I'm sick of typing out some reply, to some goof, that has a goofy idea.
A "thumbs down" clickable icon would save me hours of typing.

No, sorry. A thumbs down or dislike button would only be abused. Facebook got it right in this regard.

No, sorry. A thumbs down or dislike button would only be abused. Facebook got it right in this regard. It's a bad idea if so many dislikes cause a post to be hidden, as happens on amazon's boards. But it's not necessarily a bad idea to be able to express a dislike. Although it's lazy to just hit "dislike" all the time. And it's so negative. What I'd really like to see is a way to undo a "like" that you've hit by accident.

You would have most assuredly received a bunch of ironic thumbs downs in this thread.

You would have most assuredly received a bunch of ironic thumbs downs in this thread. And you and the others would be getting a bunch of middle fingers. I think my ideas should be green lighted.

Terrible idea and like the Admin said, the feature would be misused.

I agree with the OP, and I don't understand the argument against a dislike button. What's the difference between clicking dislike and typing out, "You're an idiot." Why make people type that out?

I assure you, I make no one write things like that. If you dislike someone's post, my suggestion would be to simply not respond to it, or respond to it in a civilized, adult manner.

It's a generally bad idea which is why sites don't really use it.
It just discourages people from replying and affects the flow of a discussion.
