I used to make pot roast either in the oven or a slow cooker but WKD and I no longer want to eat a big hunk of meat like that. We also cut down on potatoes, sometimes we don't have potatoes for weeks.

We like Yukon Gold potatoes or the little yellow Dutch potatoes, I just boil them when I make them. We also like Bob Evans mashed potatoes.

nutsberryfarm 🏜: looks good! It's also turkey season (at least in my mind it is, ). I'm going to try something I haven't done before: cook some turkey thighs in my slow cooker. I'll season them with poultry seasoning, and add chunks of onion, carrot and celery + a few cloves of garlic.

No offense to anyone who likes it. But whenever we had, I asked for a cheese sandwich. Everyone else in my family loved it, not me....yuk, yuk, yuk. I put it up there with Oxtail soup.

I like meatballs, sausages, & an occasional hamburger-but other kinds not so much. And the pot roast is a lot of roast. Change it to chicken(white meat only), I might like it.

Its the meat part I don't care for either, I like the carrots, potatoes and other veggies and I like the gravy on bread. The meat is a little rough for me. Whenever my mother had leftover pot roast (she always made 2 at a time - there were 8 of us to feed and she wanted leftovers for school lunches) she would make hash, I loved that. p.s I usually traded my pot roast sandwiches for egg salad or chicken salad (never PBJ).

I used to eat real pot roast , chicken , & pork etc. many many years ago
but later on developed allergies to most animal products .
So I make the vegan alternatives to these meals nowadays .
I actually really like the vegan versions way better than the real stuff now .
Also there are some really awesome vegan recipes
that I have found online and in the vegan cookbooks over the years also .
My point to all of this of course is
it's really nice to be able to find
quality products to make wonderful meals you can really enjoy
no matter what your daily food choices are .

oh yeah I remember you telling me about that. You seem to do really well with the vegan alternative kind of lifestyle which is really cool. That said I am really looking forward to this thanksgiving and curious what we are having this year I better start eating healthier now to compensate 😁

It seems you do eat healthy here Jay
if these foods work well for you and don't make you sick
then you are eating healthy .
Also if you eat most foods that are not fried ( except once in awhile )
but boiled , baked , or steamed really makes a wonderful difference
in the quality of your meals too - more healthy .
This is actually the Vegan Pot Roast recipe I make on the holidays
when I don't have a Tofurky or a vegan ham available .
I usually don't put the hot liquid ingredients in the blender
as it's pictured on this page but keep it all the way it was cooked in the pan ( it's way better like it is with the carrots and sauce not pureed ) .

looking good ms z. I’m sure it tastes just as good with the skills you have Actually I do stay away from fried foods. Portion control is where I get into trouble. It’s just not my nature to stop eating if I’m not that full.

I totally know what you mean here too Jay .
Portion control with food has always been
a big problem for me here also
( and certainly a genetic one at that ) especially on the holidays with my favorite meals too .
We just can't help it if our food is so darn appetizing
and flavorful that it makes it nearly impossible to stop

Jayman: Yeah, fried foods get me, too. When it comes to French Fries, or crispy fried chicken, I just don't know when to stop. Portion control goes right out the window. Simple solution is that I don't eat those very often.
