It pretty much kills their chance at a playoff berth.
I don’t think this will do much damage to his draft capital; dude’s still first round good. Not likely going to be the first or second QB off the board, but I doubt teams in need of a QB will be bothered too much by his recent injury history.
But yeah, as mentioned above, this is why these student athletes should be properly compensated by their colleges. Scholarships aren’t enough.

There's no way I'd draft him. He's already RGIII.

If Alabama loses one more game they're done in terms of the Playoffs. However I wouldn't rule them winning out going forward. I'm sure Saban has a decent enough back up there that was like a 4 star recruit or something.
I'm more interested in where he goes in the draft. Some people say he'll still be a top 5 guaranteed pick and others question if he can stay healthy and say he'll be top 15. I think Joe Burrow is damn near a lock to be the QB1 taken next year likely to Cincinnati. A team like Miami who has the luxury of multiple first round picks I think could take the risk and take Tua top 5 and possibly sit him behind Rosen his rookie year. I do think other teams might be a bit scared considering how injury prone he seems. I could see him falling to QB3 behind Burrow and Herbert.

I wouldn't want another RG3. I think his draft value drops with each injury.

He left Ohio State because he wasn't 1rst string. He doesn't seem like the kind to settle. I think Tua's draft value drops with each injury.

Good thing Miami isn't currently in place for the #1 pick then. I don't know the guy personally but this seems to be quite the jump in thought. Because he transferred from a school where he wasn't going to play to a school where he got to play that makes it seem like he'd just refuse to play for some team that drafted him? It's not like that thing is very common.

Tua’s injury throws the whole NFL draft into chaos. Tua is somewhat injury prone and that would make me cautious about drafting him, who knows how healthy he will be come draft time, and I do not think he will be a top 5 pick. I think Burrow is basically a lock to be the 1 pick and will likely go to the Bengals, and Herbert will be the number 2 QB and will go ahead of Tua. But Tua’s injury really shakes things up because I don’t know if a team like the Dolphins will be willing to take a chance on him. There are several NFL teams in need of QB’s, and Tua’s injury shakes things up as I’m unsure who will be willing to take on the risk of drafting him.
I do not think Bama makes the playoffs now, even if they do finish 11-1 I don’t think the committee will put them in with a backup QB, I think a one loss Oklahoma team or a one loss PAC 12 champion gets in over them.

This is why these kids need to be paid something. Free school isn't enough. So something equivalent of $50K or more per year isn't enough?

Why does ESPN keep trying to make a big deal out of this:
It was the first half. I don't care if it was 55-7. How early does the backup need to come into a game? Injuries can happen at any time; I wouldn't expect starters to come out of a blowout until the second half.
I don't like Alabama but obviously I hate to see players get injured. And I don't think Saban needs to explain why Tua was still out there.

Without him, are they good enough to finish with only 1 loss? Alabama was supposedly already on the bubble. And Tua was expected to be the #1 quarterback selected in the draft. Now, with the history of teams shying away from drafting players with injuries in college, where will Tua go now? He is finished for the year. He will probably never play for Alabama again.

I'm not saying it isn't devastating to that team, I'm just saying I understand why he was still in there. It was only the 2nd quarter. How early do you pull your QB from a conference game when you're trying to rack up style points to get back into the playoff?

They probably didn't know the extent of his injury until they got him back to Birmingham. It's more than just devastating to the team, what about his career?

So something equivalent of $50K or more per year isn't enough? He's talking about on top of the "free tuition". But they ARE getting paid and the free tuition, room, board, travel to games, etc. is their payment. And they're getting all of that tax free. Now, if you want to argue that they should be able to get jobs and the like which is forbidden then I'm with you. Or even a small stipend. But to be paid like professionals, no.

Free tuition is a great benefit. At least for those who want to go to class. But free room, board, travel to games, etc.--- you can't really expect the players to pay for travel to football games. And yep, free room and board. But is all that really worth risking one's career and health? And especially when you consider how much money the big football programs bring in. The players are doing all the work, and assuming all the risks. There is no guarantee they will make it on the professional level. That is a lot to ask from a player who cannot afford to do anything except go to class and football practice.

Colleges make money off from the names and likenesses of athletes. If I was to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars selling stuff with Taylor Swift's face on it, how long before I hear from Miss Swift's lawyers? Would you like it if I made money off your name and image and you got nothing?
