Can't say I'm surprised. Man stuck in the past making jokes stuck in the past is bound to get him in trouble.

Political correctness in wrestling. Screw that. The same people that are offended by everything were probably head over heels in love with the attitude era

Political correctness in wrestling. Screw that. The same people that are offended by everything were probably head over heels in love with the attitude era Because we were teenagers. And teenagers are dumb and don't know better. There's plenty of stuff I accepted as a teenager I don't care for anymore. Off-hand racist jokes being one of them. The important thing is that we don't try and stay the same after 20 years. Man, I can't imagine wanting to still be the same person I was in high school. How boring.

Wrestling always pushed the envelope and ocassionally got in trouble with a tv station. Now instead of the road warriors we got social justice warriors in wrestling that self censor

The Road Warriors didn't make racist remarks. Heck, Cornette's greatest heat came not from racism, but from being a mama's boy.
It's ok to be against racism. Even in wrestling.

Corny effed up big time, but why no ramifications for the show's director and editorial staff?
This thing was recorded ages ago, edited and in the can waiting to be posted for weeks at the very least.
If Corny "resigns", why do the show's editor, director, and producer get off free?

Can't say I'm surprised. Man stuck in the past making jokes stuck in the past is bound to get him in trouble. Do you feel this way about Bobby Heenan jokes by chance? he made lots of similarly insensitive jokes, thing is with Bobby everyone took it as him having fun and making jokes, with Cornette it's all oh my god what a racist.
I do agree it's out of touch though, but heres the thing Corny uses material he came up with decades ago and that's what people want out of him, but I think if he's given the boundaries of what is and isn't ok he can follow those rules, just he does his podcast 3 or 4 hours a week and his old jokes and tried and true material is a lot of what people look to get out of him, along with his rants.
I bet if NWA was on normal TV he wouldn't make a joke like that because he would know broadcast TV you need to be more careful with, but it's on youtube like his shows are and he doesn't get in trouble for that so he probably thought it was ok based on the platform.
Corny was bound to get in trouble somehow, this one makes me laugh because it's only Corny getting in trouble and not all of NWA who let this air weeks after being taped, meaning no one who listened to it thought it was out of line until someone on twitter tweeted it was offensive to them suddenly the ep is pulled, apologies issued and Jim resigned, what's funny is he probably doesn't even care as he openly talks about hating when he has to leave his home for events because he is a crusty old goat and he doesn't like things not being exactly as he is used to them, and anyone surprised by him being out of touch keep in mind he is almost 60 after all, and in the wrestling business for almost 40 years neither one lends itself to being politically correct.

There is a certain irony to this. Cornette is an unabashed leftist and a staunch Trump hater and here he is getting fired for a racist comment. But the truth is, PC culture is out of control and hypocritical as well. It's A-OK to hold up bloody effigies of the president's head, it's OK to mock his young son, it's OK to say that it's time for another actor to assassinate a president, but equate blacks to fried chicken and now you've crossed a line.

Love the guy and all but I have zero respect for people that cut people out of there lives or hate people because of who they voted for

It’s a joke about how tough somebody is that they can go through a place with starving people with food on his back and nobody will mess with him. He made that joke about big bubba Rogers over 30 years ago. I don’t get why there’s such a big deal to mention fried chicken

No, the thing is Bobby is dead and not still making those jokes. It's not so much that Cornette said those things decades ago. It's that he still says them even though times have changed. What people want from Cornette is his passion, knowledge, and promo skills; they don't want his 30 year old material. But you are right: Cornette doesn't really care what anyone says. He'll always be who he is. There's no changing him. NWA definitely should've known better.
