....you've been shocked at how "normal" they seem to be, when seeing them on a talk show, or in an interview (or some other appearance where they're not acting) ?? For instance, I remember seeing Daniel Dae Kim for the first time on a morning talk show, back when Lost (2004-2010) was still on the air, and was BLOWN AWAY at what a kind, VERY smiley, incredibly personable guy he seemed to be, as opposed to the dark, dour character he played on that particular show that never, EVER smiled... Anybody have an actor(s)/actress(es) that caught you off guard as to how UNlike a particular character they really are, that they had played in a film, or on tv ?? SAVE FERRIS

It seems that a lot of actors who play vicious, mean characters are actually more quiet and reserved in real life.

I guess in that vein, I would say the actress that plays the Nun in the Conjuring movies. She’s got this sunny disposition and a valley girl voice in my interviews.

Many a bad guy character actor well known as an evil hombre on screen was noted for his good humor, friendliness, charitable nature. Robert J. Wilke, from ages ago, was one such. Going way back, to the silent era, Erich Von Stroheim, widely known as The Man You Love To Hate due to his several portrayals of "hideous Huns" (i.e. badass Germans) in World War I pictures, was a civilized, creative, highly artistic man. Von Stroheim was not, professionally, an easy man to get on with but I've never heard of anyone describing him as loathsome or even just plain nasty in real life.

As i am able to understand that the actor/actress and the character they play are not the same person, i do not get shocked by that.

I see what the OP is saying in that some people are pretty good at hiding there own real mannerisms/self in movies to where when you see them interact in a interview etc they come across as totally different. like their overall persona is nothing like their on screen presence. because normally with most it seems like their general screen presence portrays themselves to some degree, but some people seem to hide even that stuff well. p.s. to The Anomaly (Vera Farmiga) picture area51 ; on a side note... I recently re-watched At Middleton (2013) (which makes for my 4th viewing in total(I bumped it up in score from a 7-7.5/10 to a 7.5-8/10)) and Vera is great in that. it really shows her overall attractiveness/warmth off etc ; it has to be my all-around favorite role of hers but that movie seems to fly off the radar as not many have seen it as it's only got 7,425 votes.

Yes, although Von Stroheim would rather have continued earning his living as a director. He was a fine actor as well, as witness his beautiful playing of Gloria Swanson's butler, with, as the viewer learns, a tragic back story, in Sunset Blvd.

Saw Jane Badler in an interview, nothing like Diana from V. Modest and soft-spoken.
Same with Christopher Lloyd.
Sometimes I see someone in a movie with a really heavy accent and then see them in another and they sound so different-I didn't realize they had faked the accent.
