So you think that if an offense doesn't score a TD for 55+ minutes, then that automatically means they're not going to score a TD for the entire game? Did you not see the 1999 NFC Championship Game? Kurt Warner and the high-scoring Rams managed only 5 points and trailed 6-5 after 55+ minutes and didn't score their 1st TD until the 56th minute of the game. Who gives a shit what Kurt Warner did in 1999. I'm asking you about the Cowboys offense that was on the field in New England on Nov 24, 2019. What was it about that particular offense that makes you so convinced they were gonna score a touchdown in the last two minutes of that game? Do you not know that a football game is at least 60 minutes and a TD can be scored on any play within those 60 minutes? In a 1-score game, an incredible play can suddenly happen at the end that turns the entire game around. Remember the Music City Miracle? Or Joe Flacco's 70-yard Hail Mary in Denver? Or the Minneapolis Miracle? Or just last season when Miami trailed New England by 5 points with just 7 seconds left and went 69 yards for a game-winning TD against this same New England team? Heck, I was in Memorial Stadium in Berkeley in 1982 when Stanford kicked a FG to a 1-point lead over Cal with 4 seconds left, and then Cal won on The Play. A football game is at least 60 minutes, and a TD, no matter how incredible and unlikely it may seem, can be scored on any play within those 60 minutes. The question you should be asking is "What about New England's defense makes you so convinced that they would never give up a 69-yard game-winning TD with 7 seconds left?"

I couldn't help myself, at least once a year I'll respond to his lunacy for a bit. Then you realize that discussing sports with him is about as much fun as repeatedly banging your head against a wall, so I'll personally leave him alone for awhile. I do like his presence on the board, though. He does get folks stirred up, and the board is better for it.

I don't remember any of those things. Personally, they sound made up. Yes, teams can score touchdowns in the last minute after doing nothing for the first 58 minutes. And yes, there are also plenty of examples in NFL history of teams that were shut out for 59 minutes and then NOT SCORE in the last minute. We'll focus on the game that we have been discussing. Unfortunately, I watched most of that boring game. Dallas had done absolutely nothing on offense all day. New England's defense is the strength of their team, it's a defense that has had numerous games already this season where they gave up 10 or less points. Factor in absolutely brutal weather to play offensive football into the mix and yes, I don't believe Dallas was gonna get in the endzone in the last minute of the game. I do agree that the tripping non-call was a blunder, but I don't think it really would have made a difference. Of course, I expect you to disagree because that's your thing, but you ain't changing my mind.
