Finally found one last week at Wal-Mart. Now I read Nintendo has discontinued production of an already hard to find device. To what purpose? I'm sure I don't know.

A few possible reasons:
1. It was a limited time thing all along 2. Not profitable enough 3. Focus attention on Switch 4. Gearing up for a SNES/N64 version
My personal opinion is it will be seasonal and come out every once and a while as a quick cash grab in addition to other line-ups.

I bought this Retrobit system 5 years ago from Amazon.com. It costs $18.00 new, plays any NES cartridge, is compatible with Game Genie and the Duck Hunt light gun works with it. It's cool Nntendo made the Classic, but my system is much less expensive and way more versatile.

Never cared about the NES because of inferior graphics. SNES has good graphics for gaming.

I read that Nintendo is doing the same thing with the SNES for this coming Christmas too.

Word is the Nintendo is easily hackable, and the people at Nintendo hate that so they're discontinuing. That's just what I heard.
Either way I find Nintendo as a company to be so damn hard to get behind anymore. They never just give people what they want. I'm over them.

Between the timing of their recent and upcoming releases (NES classic, Nintendo Switch/Zelda, the new Mario) and their gimmick bullshit when comes to product supply, I can't in good conscience get back into bed with them. If I buy a console I consider it an investment and a partnership of sorts, and I don't really feel like being dicked around for the next 3-4 years.

Lucked into mine via refresh 'lottery' bestbuy.ca opening night last Nov. I used hackchi to add 30 of my own favs to make it a great gaming device for my hdtv. I don't know about the economics of why they discontinued it when they didn't have enough at launch day to begin with. Essentially, the NES Classic's legacy is that of giddy viral reaction summer 2016, launch prep, launch letdowns, holiday season backlash, & ebay markups no one will pay anyways. SNES Classic I could still see happening, though maybe we won't even get any third party titles. It'll just be a bunch of Nintendo stuff slapped together & that'll be the end of their 'Classic' line.

Never cared about the NES because of inferior graphics. SNES has good graphics for gaming. but when i think of Mario games i tend to think of the original NES (or N64 with Super Mario 64) and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out on NES always stays with me which would probably be my overall favorite NES game. too bad the thing in this topic has 'Mr Dream' instead of Mike Tyson which kinda ruins it a little bit for me. SNES never really stuck with me like the original NES did overall especially considering the games i did play on SNES (and the like) i just stick to the arcade versions of them now using the MAME emulator etc. so while i am sure at one point i liked SNES etc over the original NES i think as time passed i tend to look more highly on the NES over the SNES, especially given the info i posted above. but with that said... i would understand if someone likes SNES/Genesis and the like over NES given the natural evolution of better graphics as time passes. but some games stand the test of time and don't need super high end graphics to be good and i feel Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is one of those games.
