The big surprise here, was that after Virgil's two goals, Liverpool hardly got a kick of the ball! Brighton stayed calm and composed and played some terrific .football, starting at the back. They lacked a goalscorer up front and that was why they left Anfield empty-handed, when they deserved, at the minimum, a draw. Without Fabinho, the Reds defense was very vulnerable, particularly on the left where Robertson was left alone to face 2/3 attackers. Mane tried to help but he is too much of a threat up front to be used as an auxiliary left back. Wijnaldum was elsewhere. Henderson as a ball-winner is not in Fabinho's class and this will be a problem for Klopp. Salah Mane and Firmino were starved of service and the latter two were subbed.

Views on that free kick goal?
I thought that was quite weird he was "allowed" to take it while Adrian was on the post setting up the wall, However apparently the attacking team don't have to wait for the ref to blow his whistle.
Which begs the question, why do goalies EVER go over to their posts to set the wall? Is it simply a case of being a football etiquette thing? Because I believe the attacking team can ask if they can take it quickly which the referee will respond to by waving them on or blowing his whistle, which means everyone knows what is going on including the defence. However I don't think that happened in this case, so was it just a case of "bad form" from Brighton?

It was quick thinking from Brighton, imo. Keepers move to their posts at free-kicks to check that the "wall" hasn't left any gaps. I'm sure that I saw the ref give Brighton the OK to take the kick. Adrian took too long to get himself ready

Liverpool have played 31 league games with out defeat this is the same as the previous record in 1987-88. So if they win or draw against Everton next round they will have played 32 league games with out defeat and they will have beaten the record of 1987-88. The last time Liverpool lost to Everton on Anfield was in 1999, the last time Liverpool lost to Everton at all was in 2011 on Goodison Park

Here's an interesting article dealing with "quick" free kicks:- bleacherreport.com/articles/213166-quick-free-kick-whats-the-ruleFunny thing is I don't think they asked for a quick one yesterday but the ref did blow his whistle and he then struck it instantly. So good within the laws of the game. However should the referee have blown his whistle? From the rules there is says he can do as soon as he's satisfied the wall is 10 yards back. So technically he was ok to do so. But he can also see that the goalie is on the post, therefore you could argue that by blowing when he did he assists the attack...

Despite going on to win their next 9 consecutive matches (!) they lost the title by 1 point...
