So I'm on a Warren Oates kick lately. Possibly my all-time favorite character actor. I recently watched Ride The High Country and that crazy devil worshipping one he did with Peter Fonda. I've also caught him in a couple of cool Gunsmoke and other Western shows as well.
The guy had a great look, a gleam in his eye, but also the look of a quick powder keg.
I'm old-school and still don't know how to post photos here, but lots of you guys do, so let's see some Warren Oates shots!
Thanks.

His most unusual role? He played a nice ordinary guy

He was a regular with Jack Lord on this TV series .. probably where I first began to watch for his appearances on TV … always a pleasure … especially when he was in evil mode !

also turned up on WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE I've been watching episodes of that show recently, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen Oates in one yet. Look forward to catching it. Can't go wrong with those two in anything

I said the Star Wars word Maclunkey sounds like the name of a tv cop series from the 70s. I could see Warren Oates named Maclunkey.
He was in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes-about the three soldiers who end up in Custer's Last Stand.
But Race With the Devil is my favorite.

He's in Monte Hellman's absurd, minimalist western, The Shooting, with Jack Nicholson. One of my favorites of the genre. Unfortunately, not too many good pictures available.
