Angostura bitters is a very viable addition to many mixed drinks. Good stuff!

A few drops of bitters gets rid of hiccups. Otherwise ugh!

Looks delicious! I wonder how many modern-day bartenders would know how to make that cocktail?
I do love good rye whiskey... it's become my go-to spirit.

If you like rye whisky, try the Bulleit version...a little pricy, but very good and worth the $$$.

nutsberryfarm π: there was one site I was on that recommended adding bitters to beer - it's supposed to enhance the natural bitterness of hops.
The other night I added several dashes of Angostura bitters to a glass of Stone Arrogant Bastard ale (which as you probably know is already bitter enough as it is). Even with the added bitters, I honestly couldn't detect any difference, lol.

No need to waste bitters in beer. If you like strong hoppy beer, go get some "Laganitus Hop Stoopid" craft beer. It is intensely hoppy and bitter.
