If we're talking quality of output, I'd have to go with The Planet of the Apes.
Even although the budget continually diminished throughout the original series the films still entertained and could be quite thought provoking judgements on society.
And the recent reboot trilogy was excellent. The funny thing about these films is comparing against one of criticism of the DT, namely these weren't pre-written / planned out either.

1. Star Wars (Lucas) 2. Star Trek (shows) 3. Game of Thrones (sans 7,8) 4. DC (the mature stuff like Watchmen, Joker, WW, Batman etc) 5 Apes (the only franchise which had 3 good movies recently)
I do not see Godfather and such as franchises, or they would rank high.

I think only Star Trek and Planet of the Apes come close Star Wars seems like a very low bar to beat. What ... 3, maybe 4 good movies out of 11? Many of the bad ones are absolute turds. The MCU is obviously #1. Not a single dog in the whole bunch. Best Picture nominee, #1 box office champ. Harry Potter might be the runner up. Consistently good/excellent, with only the last Fantastic Beasts movie dragging it down. Star Trek and Planet of the Apes do come close to Star Wars, but not in a good way. Both franchises have also suffered from some really awful installments. Other franchises that are comparable to Star Wars ...James Bond - Very inconsistent over the years. The dogs easily outnumber the gems. Lord of the Rings - The last two Hobbit movies do suck very much. A movie franchise killed by the excesses of it's creator. (Sound familiar?) Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull, eek! Fail! Another George Lucas abomination. Terminator - This franchise crashed and burned after Cameron left. Which is a departure from what happened to Star Wars. George Lucas himself was at the wheel when SW went off the rails. Alien(s) - Another failed franchise that has been trying to capture the magic of the first two installments with much futility. X-men - Some dogs in the bunch, but overall not bad. I'm tempted to move this franchise into the success column. Even worse than Star Wars ...The DCEU - An unmitigated disaster. Declared DOA by it's own creators.

Not better but in the same league as Star Wars:
Indiana Jones Harry Potter Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them
and from the very "olden days" Flash Gordon
I wasn't a Star Trek fan because I thought Captain Kirk was creepy and always after the females of any species.

Ruffalo has done well. He apparently got the gig for resembling Bill Bixby. Norton interviewed with Whedon, but apparently it didnt go well so the plan to continue with him fell through. Have you ever seen You Can Count on Me? It's a great film; he and Laura Linney are amazing as brother and sister in, what I think of as, Kenneth Lonergan's best work. He was so cute, back then. Josh Lucas (in his small supporting role) was too. I think Brothers Bloom is the first thing I remember him in.
