Happy for Jessie Buckley getting more attention. She was great in Taboo and The Last Post.

The rise of 1917. I had no idea that it would turn out to be a major player in this awards season.

All the winners' speeches are available here. Even though a lot of Oscar categories seem easy to predict, there are a couple that needed confirmation from the BAFTAs and they've received it tonight: 1917 for Best Picture (it didn't the Critics Choice Award) and Joaquin Phoenix (Damn! his speech left left everyone in the room (and probably in the world) with the jaw on the floor!) for Best Actor (he won the televised awards, but Adam Driver has won most awards throughout the season) and PARASITE for Best Original Screenplay. JOJO RABBIT winning the BAFTA and the WGA for Best Adapted Screenplay had made the category harder to predict. The frontrunner used to be LITTLE WOMEN with THE IRISHMAN in 2nd place. With this and the Annies, KLAUS is one step closer to defeating TOY STORY PART 4, despite winning pretty much every other Best Animated Feature award. JOKER won the new Best Casting category despite not really being an ensemble film, unlike some of the other nominees. There's only 1 public-voting category and they don't choose the most popular rising stars?!
