Ant-Man got into a particularly troubled pre-production because the director left the project almost just before the filming was set to begin, which is why MCU was in such a hurry to find the next director.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness still has about 4 months before they're supposed to start filming, so it's less likely that they'll have to find the new director on the fly like they did with Ant-Man. If anything, this situation seems to be more similar to Deadpool 2, where Tim Miller got replaced with David Leitch and the film still turned out to be at least as good as the first film.
