Every day is a school day.
They consider a hat trick legit only if the three goals are scored in the same half, with no other goals between the three.

I consider cricket hat-trick the most legitimate form of hat-trick as long as they come in one innings. But a hat-trick in by itself isn't that big an achievement if it plays not so big role in context of the game.

As fas as I know it is this way: "[...] legit only if the three goals are scored in the same half, with no other goals between the three." But it does not seem to be official: Wiki And there is also a perfect hat trick (one left foot, one right foot and a header).

But there you go... In Germany a hat trick is 3 goals scored in succession in one half of football. Interesting ain't it 🤷♀️

Lupenreiner Hattrick de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hattrick#Fu%C3%9FballOne half time, and no goal from an other player in between. But in the Anglo-Saxon Sprachraum, it is different: your flawless hat-trick, is our regular, so to speak, since our definition is stricter. Seems to be really a German thing or at least a different "approach" between German-speaking countries and English-speaking countries. God knows what the French do... PS: But it also says that the German media often report a hat-trick or use the term hat-trick even if it fails the German criterion - what is true.

Before today I didn't even know there were different ideas of what is a hat trick in football. Like I said, every day is a school day. 3 goals in one half; right foot, left foot, header... Has anyone ever done that 'perfect' hat trick?
