I don't use linguine often. Among the "strand" pastas, it's a bit heavy. I do prefer capellini, or even plain spaghetti. If I want something heavier, I'll go for a flat noodle, or a "shaped," shell, penne, or other.
I've always enjoyed the linguine dishes that I've had in restaurants, and that's usually with a seafood ... clams/mussels. They're always good.
When I do seafood pasta at home, it's usually with shrimp, and I do prefer to use small shrimp, and capellini.

I prefer linguine to fettuccine or spaghetti.

Linguini for clam sauce, capellini for scampi. Pappardelle for cacciatore, penne for vodka sauce, fusilli for pasta salad, ziti for meat sauce, egg noodles for swedish meatballs. Rigatoni is like a mouthful of air.

I really enjoy a lot of different pastas
and have over the years also .
Actually linguine is my first favorite and has always been
my grandmother used to make it for me as a child too
Surprisingly I haven't had it in a long while perhaps I will have my Hubby pick up
a box of it this weekend on Grocery day .
Thanks so much nutsberryfarm π for this wonderful
meal reminder here too .

I pretty much see all pastas with the same ingredient(s) as interchangeable. In fact, I don't even know them by name.
