Kevin Smith curse again. Anytime he is attached to something that's not his own (and sometimes his own material) it gets cancelled. 6 million Dollar Man, His version of Green Hornet, Superman Lives, Reaper, Heroes, etc... Next in the shute He-Man. Also because he doesn't own Mallrats and Clerks even though Universal and Weinstein (or whoever owns Weinstein's back cataloge now) Have greenlit both I doubt will see Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2.

When was Mallrats 2 & Clerks 3 greenlit? Clerks 3 was always Greenlit they had staffed up production and was a week away from shooting when Jeff Anderson suddenly decided not to do it. Late last year Kevin and Jeff talked everything out and it's back on. With Mallrats 2 Universal distributed Jay and Silient Bob Reboot internationally. They also own the rights to and turned down Mallrats 2 a few years ago. After Reboot was done Kevin had a meeting with Universal, they asked him what he wanted to do next. (This was before Jeff and Kevin had met and talked) and he brought up Mallrats 2 again. They agreed. So now both are greenlit and he had to choose which to go with first. He went with Clerks 3. Supposed to start filming in Fall of 2020.

When was Mallrats 2 & Clerks 3 greenlit? Kevin has been working on new Clerks 3 script since. (He had done public readings of the old Clerk 3 scripts to help raise money for the local Playhouse he used in Jersey where he found and auditioned actors for Clerks originally). He didn't want to use the same script as the plot would've been out there. The original plot of Clerks 3 was Randall is now in his 40's and depressed. Dante discovers that Randall had written a script, but never had the balls to show anyone. They both risk what they have built with the store to shoot Clerks. Now that script is scraped no clue what the plot is.
