Stingray is an obscure drive-in/B-movie type action flick. In order to elude the police after a drug deal gone bad, two traffickers hide their loot in a Corvette Stingray at a used car lot. But the next day two young men buy the car, and the crooks want their stash back. Then the chase is on! This is a very enjoyable little flick in which you just park your brain at the door and enjoy. There is non-stop action with exciting car chases and shootouts. Best of all, Stingray has a very sharp sense of humor. There is a lot of hilarious dialogue between the two main baddies, played by the late William Watson and Bert Hinchman, apparently much of it was improvised by them. And the lovely Sherry Jackson delivers a great performance as the tough-as-nails, self-proclaimed leader of the gang. Definitely a woman you would not want to double-cross! My major criticism of Stingray is the ending. It's like the director just didn't know what to do with it by the time the story was coming to an end. But other than that, this is a fun flick.

Where can I catch it? Try Youtube. The quality might not be that great, but still watchable.

Sounds good. I'll watch Chris Mitchum in just about anything.

If you like that sort of stuff you need to watch Final Score from him. It's cray cray.

Just found out that Stingray is slated for an upcoming blu-ray release! The release date is November 23rd and apparently it's a directors' cut. It's being put out by Dark Force Entertainment; never heard of this label before, but hopefully they will do a quality job on this.
Special Features and Technical Specs:
NEWLY REMASTERED DIRECTOR'S CUT OF THE FILM Audio commentary with director Richard Taylor Interview with director Richard Taylor Interview with star Sherry Jackson Interview with star Bert Hinchman Interview with co-star Les Lannom Original trailer Edwardsville Slideshow "High Gear" Music Video "High Gear" Audio Recordings Q&A Session with Director and Cast
I'm very much looking forward to this!

Is that what this was supposed to be based on?

I remember this one from my mid-teens, it was filmed in and around St. Louis; that's always a big deal for us here. Then the movie had just a whisper of a release.

Is that what this was supposed to be based on? Doubtful. I think that Troy McClure clip was spoofing the 70s car chase genre in general.
