And we disagree. Fine. No problem. See how that works? No need to call anyone a liar or obtuse.
...I don't think anything that she did in either of those couldn't have been done by ANY actress with good looks. Good looks are the only requirement for those two roles. There was no acting stretch in either. IMO.
"No need to call anyone a liar or obtuse." ---------------------------------------------------
Your not gonna believe me when I say this but I have actually never called anybody 'obtuse' ever in my life.
I saw what happened to Tim Robbins when he said it in "THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION".
LOL. That's what I recall whenever I hear the word obtuse too! And believe me, I never want to spend twenty years digging out a tunnel to freedom!

I don't care that you think she's a bad actress, to be honest, but you went even further to say she's nothing other than attractive, you were emphatic and smarmy about it. I didn't like that, it struck me wrong. I don't like it when people conflate personal taste with the objective value of another person, and especially didn't like the tone so I decided to take it up with you. On most days I would ignore it but this time I decided to reply. This is a discussion site, we are discussing. I don't need any other reason and since you weren't nice about saying it, you must be a tough guy so I didn't feel obligated to tiptoe around your feelings. Hopefully we are on the same page now. Well I believe you are wrong about her being nothing. Denise Richards didn't just show up one day and get movie deals because her hair was nice and she smiled. As previously mentioned attractive women in hollywood are a dime a dozen, many are better looking than her, and yet she got those parts. So clearly she has drive, professionalism, salesmanship, talent, and work ethic, to get and keep getting roles. She wasn't born to hollywood royalty, wasn't an insider, and had to work her way up and set herself apart from the thousands and thousands of attractive women seeking fame. And whether she's a good actress or not, apparently some people feel she is worth discussion so she has made an impression. Is she a bad actress, I don't think so but she isn't winning any awards so she's not a top actress because we all know that awards are the be-all end-all decider of who is and isn't the best but that doesn't make her nothing. Alright. lets take a step back. We obviously got off on the wrong foot and some things we've both written were blown out of proportion.
Your contention is that Denise Richards didn't just show up one day and get movie deals because her hair was nice and she smiled. And I'm saying that yeah sometimes its that easy. Sometimes a producer thinks he can get laid by hiring a ditsy little thing who thinks acting is easy because she's photogenic. There's tons of actresses, and yes even actors, who are like that. We all know that's true. If Hollywood is good at anything its attracting good looking people. Some of them fade into obscurity and some of them actually build upon it to make something of themselves.
Let me give you three examples: Denise Richards Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt
All three gorgeous, all three young when they started, all three known more for being attractive than for some amazing performance the did when they started (I'm talking about the first five years or so of their careers in movies, not now.)
These three big breakout roles were: Denise- Starship Troopers: In which she did nothing but smile a lot Margot- Wolf of Wall Street - in which she did nothing but act sexy and show us the full monty Brad- Thelma and Louise - in which he did nothing but jump up and down on Geena Davis bed shirtless
As time went on these three people had the opportunity to improve on their careers, and take more challenging roles to show off their actual acting ability, and that they were serious about the craft of acting and making movies of value.
Both Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt have gone on to be nominated for Oscars in both supporting and lead categories, have made movies of social value, have portrayed characters that are completely different from themselves, have played in roles that did NOT rely on them being good looking, as a matter of fact both of them have taken roles in which they were both made up to be downright ugly. Both of them have their own production companies, which have made award nominated movies, which have been nominated for BEST picture.
Denise Richards moved on to be in a three way on Wild Things and a reality TV show that was so short lived it was barely a blip.
She was dumb enough to marry and have children with CHARLIE FUCKING SHEEN! Who the fuck in their right mind takes Charlie fucking Sheen seriously enough to marry him and have children with him? Does that scream bright to you?
Like I said in my original post, I don't have anything against her personally, I'm sure she's a lovely person, and I wish her all the luck in the world; honestly. But she has little to no talent and has relied in her entire on the fact that she's attractive.
And as for all the other young ladies (AND MEN!) you mention... them too! Life is amazing when you're that good looking. Otherwise incredibly smart people do incredibly dumb things around good looking people. Sometimes those otherwise smart people give good looking people careers in Hollywood. It happens.
That argument is built on stereotyping and only works if you pretend that beautiful people don't compete against one another. Sometimes stereotypes are right, sometimes they are myths made up by Hollywood that people come to believe because they see it all the time. Not all smart people are wimpy, not all jocks are dumb, not all pedos are fat white guys, not all pretty people are vapid and lazy, not all bad guys look like thugs, and no one builds a career just by being pretty. I have no experience in TV/film other than amateur editing but I've acted in plays and seen people hired because they were attractive but if they can't remember their lines, come to work sober, come to work on time, be dependable, and then act credibly, they don't last because there are too many other people who will do those things and many of them good looking. The same is true in business, I've seen plenty of bad managers who hire people because of their looks but those people still have to do the job. They might linger with that manager but people get move around and eventually they will get fired or stuck in some entry level position. Good looks grease the wheels but the wheels still have to roll or they get replaced.

And my argument above is that in Margot Robbie and Brad Pitts case the wheels rolled, and in Denise Richards case they totally don't.

What is that Movie about it and is it any good ?
I have actually heard of that Movie but I have never seen any of it which is why I am asking.
It also stars Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Murphy, Ellen Barkin, Allison Janney, Kirstie Alley and is the film debut of Amy Adams.
It's about a bunch of girls in a small town competing for a beauty pageant and they start dying in mysterious ways.
It's like a darkish comedy. It's one of my favorites. You should check it out!
WOW, It has a Darn Good Cast.
