Interesting - I think Kansas is ranked slightly too high at #3. The Big 10 is absolutely loaded this season, they should get a lot of teams in the tourney.

They have teams like Illinois and Rutgers who have emerged in conference play and are now ranked. But they also have teams like Ohio State and Michigan who looked so great in November but are shitting the bed in conference play. Do you dare leave teams like Ohio State and Michigan out of the tourney? And what about teams like Indiana, Wisconsin, and Penn State, all of whom have beaten really good teams as well?

How many Big Ten teams are going to make the dance? Outside of Nebraska and Northwestern, every team is a Quad 1 or 2 team, so every win is helping the resume. They've got a perfect scenario here with how the rest of the season plays out. Minnesota is 39th in KenPom overall but 12th in the Big Ten in KenPom!

At this moment, you could argue for 12 teams from the B10. Nebraska and Northwestern are out. The 12th place team is Michigan, who has a hell of an argument. Attrition will take out a couple at least. Purdue and Penn State can't take too many losses, Wisconsin too Kenpom has 1. Kansas 2. Duke 3. Gonzaga 4. Baylor 5. Dayton 6. WVU 7. Michigan St 8. San Diego St. 9. Louisville 10. Maryland FSU at #17, Rutgers #26, URI #56, UNC #89 (ha ha ha)

They still have two against Michigan State but they have two against Northwestern as well. If they went 5-7 the rest of the way to end up 19-12, would that get them in? There'd be a lot to like on the resume.

They are torn, wanting to give more spots to the mid majors and paying more attention to the quality of schedule.

Definitely mid-majors always play a role. If Gonzaga, San Diego State, or Dayton lose in their tourneys, those numbers will definitely shrink.

I've always been a fan of a team having to have a .500 conference record to qualify for the NCAA. Makes conference play more meaningful, especially toward the end. Two 7-8 team playing the last regular season game becomes HUGE. Helps the middies. Helps the lesser tournaments, the NIT.
