I have never tried the Chicago deep dish pizza. I certainly would try it. Not the kind of pizza I am used to but looks great

I haven't tried it, being a 'foreigner' however I have had many pizza's with thick doughs of various kinds.
I prefer a better balance with dough and topping, which would include a thinner though still 'yeast risen' crust. I also don't like the ultra flat this ones, though I have to admit to having some of them in Italy. Again it is a regional thing.

I'm from the North Shore and I LOVE both deep-dish and stuffed!!! I used to go to Gino's East on Superior with friends, when we ordered the deep dish, I just ate the filling, I didn't care for the crust. In my day , I remember waiting in line to get in, I think there was a parking garage across the street (memory is fading). My favorite pizza place was in Cicero on 31st., Homerun Inn. Parking was horrible because it was mostly street parking, there was a neighborhood park nearby. We used to get Nick's special which was just a regular crust. I miss the "neighborhoods" that Chicago was famous for, we left the area in 2001 and never returned. Another place I loved was Rukavinas on Torrence Av in Calumet City, it was a tavern/ restaurant . They had a really good Taco pizza, unlike any taco pizza I ever had. It closed down before we left the area but a few years ago, a neighbor mentioned in a Xmas Card that it reopened under new management.
I went to Gino's East once and DIDN'T care for it. There are BETTER pizza joints in the Chicagoland area. My FAVORITE in the city itself is Pizzeria Due. Outside of the city it's Piero's Pizza, Pequod's Pizza and Pizano's.

In college I delivered for Pizza Hut and used to make a thin crust pizza in a deep dish pan with layers of sauce, toppings, cheese, toppings, cheese, etc.

I have never tried the Chicago deep dish pizza. I certainly would try it. Not the kind of pizza I am used to but looks great If you like the look of it, I am sure you would enjoy the overall experience as well. I used to eat Chicago-style pizza when I lived in Newport, RI many years ago. The Chicago Dough Factory was in two locations in Newport. If you have a Pizzeria Uno near you, I would highly recommend it.
