Interested in hearing from this board as a lot of posters here appear to see a lot of new release films. For the record I don't see a lot of new releases myself as I'm pretty picky with what I chose to see and I'm usually about 6-12 months behind even on the ones I do want to see. To date I've seen a mere 18 films with a 2019 IMDb release date. My Top 5 so far: Portrait of a Lady on Fire A Hidden Life The Lighthouse Parasite A Girl MissingStill particularly interested in seeing The Halt, Midsommar, Dragged Across Concrete, Joker, Judy, Marriage Story, The Irishman what about Uncut Gems? :-) Wasn't on my watchlist due to my Sandler aversion (I know this is meant to be one of his good films). All the love it's getting here and "in the real world" might just be enough for me to give it a chance ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

This was at my "local" festival but I didn't get a chance to see it. Looked like a really lo-fi The Lighthouse, at least aesthetically.

Guilty as charged. The Thin Red Line would probably make my all time Top 10. I even liked Knight of Cups and Song to Song.

did you all see Sandlers hilarious Idie spirit award speech? I thought it was childish, even by the standards of his humor.

This was at my "local" festival but I didn't get a chance to see it. Looked like a really lo-fi The Lighthouse, at least aesthetically. Apparently it was all shot using clockwork cameras and all the sound, including the dialogue, was added in post-production. In terms of sound it has a very strange feeling about it. Mark Kermode's review of it says it makes it feel like the characters are talking at each other but not with each other which underlines the themes of division. The film stock also has so much texture and grain on it, it really looks raw and tactile. It's an excellent film, seek it out!

The things he said and the way he said them. so I guess you don’t like his character voice and his references to the high school is that what you are referring to? I thought it made it uniquely refreshing and more sincere and human than we normally see which was great to see.

Even in the trailer the dialogue sounded off which added an interesting distancing element to it.
