What does whiteness have to do with ratings? Twitter told me lack of diverse nominees, was a reason they didn't watch

They say that every year. Clearly it's still a profitable program or it wouldn't be on TV. And it will be on TV next year and the year after that and long after we're dead.

It has nothing to do with race. If anything, controversies would make people want to watch it out of morbid curiosity. This is has to do with people who prefer to watch the highlights the next day.

Tambay Obenson is just speculating. He doesn't provide any actual evidence. In fact, in his Indiewire article, he said:If you read some of his other articles, you'll see that he tends to come up with crazy theories as to why something won/didn't win. Yes, I know that's a global trend (we see it on this forum too), but that doesn't make him more credible. He complains about last year's ceremony since GREEN BOOK won, but he also downplays PARASITE's win and Cynthia Erivo's nomination just because there were more P.O.C. nominees/winners last year. Is there a way to make him happy?!

Sounds like he regards Koreans as white. He won't be happy until Africans win Best Picture.

That's fairly hilarious considering that a Korean picture just walked off with the BP award. Once upon a time the Oscars had something to do with American art and achievement in film; in latter times the ceremony looks as much like a foreign film festival as anything else. To claim that there's insufficient 'diversity' in what's being represented is slightly laughable nowadays.

People just want to look for any political partisan, or personal entitled reason to complain. Many people lost out of all creeds due to limited number of slots. Itβs not about Foreign though, it is the βblackβ agenda that plays the victim. Yes. More and more I have been thinking about this. With some black people, you can't win for losing. Nothing a non-black person can do will make a difference in the eyes of many of these people. And yet, Jewish people have been persecuted just as much, if not more, than black people, and Jewish people never complain about their lot! They go on, they work hard, they stick with each other, they're funny. But, what's going on here? Also, Jewish people tend to not fight back, whereas many black people will go after you if you look at them twice. They need to take their rage out on the dance floor as black people do tend to be emotional dancers with great rhythm, and dancing is a great outlet.
