Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish are extremely talented. I hate their music and never listen to them, but they are extremely talented. I heard Billie Eilish do an acoustic set and sing and it was incredible. You do not hear that in her music however so I do not get it. Taylor Swift is one of the most talented artists I have seen. I say this as someone who listens to classic rock and metal. She writes all of her own music and plays every instrument well. She also produces and writes all her own music videos. She had insane talent.

To me she’s as manufactured as Imagine Dragons, just for the younger crowd.

Hold on a sec here - What's wrong with Imagine Dragons? ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/gf93ycxax/giveup.gif) This is the greatest pump up song in the history of pump up songs - it's also Snooki's husband's favorite song in The Jersey Shore ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif)

I understand them. They just fucking suck balls.

I hope this doesn’t come across as a “you kids get off my lawn” rant but maybe it is. I don’t get Billie Eilish. I don’t understand anything that has to do with her. Why her? What specifically sets her apart from all the other surly 17 year olds in the world? How did she get famous? Why was she pushed so heavily so quickly? What is so great about her music? I’m obviously missing something and I’m obviously not her target demographic. There are other pop acts I can listen to that are tolerable to me. Taylor Swift for example. While she’s older, I get her and don’t mind some of her music. I actually prefer some of her earlier country songs to her later pop. But either way it’s something I can comprehend. But Billie Eilish may as well be from Tatooine for all I know. I would try, but i dont understand her either.

I hope she will become some sort of Kate Bush in the future.

Nope, don't get her. Didn't like her SNL performances and the In Memoriam tribute was just weird. Again: Taylor is funny for me.

My wife just played me her Oscar thing on her phone. Jesus Christ, what a fucking disgrace. If I was famous and died and she sang my tribute I’d come back and haunt the bitch. Give me Trent Reznor or Chrissie Hynde.

Put your panties back on and talk sports, you big girl's blouse. ETA: And yes, it is coming of as the rant of an out of touch oldie, because that's what it is, with your usual dash of ineptitude, superficiality and misogyny tossed in. If you're having such a hard time with it all, perhaps some synthetic testosterone will help you feel whole again.

Pfff, Imma out boomer you pretty bad right now. I just learned of her existence on Sunday. I turned to the Oscars to see if martin Scorsese would win and the In Memoriam was right around that time. I like watching the In Memoriam cause it always makes mes laugh how some people get a lot of applause and others get a spatter. It feels so hilariously disrespectful. I mean, they're all dead, just applaud at the end for them all rather than more or less for everyone, you know? Anyway, that was when i first learned of her existence. Still no clue who she is, but I do know that she is a person who exists.
And one more thing. Ever since my dogs died I've had more and more wildlife in my yard. And there's this bunny who spends most of his day in my front and back yard. He's sorta a friend at this point. Well, some neighbor kids were chasing him and ran accross my front yard. I didn't like it, on account of the bunny is my friend. So i came out and asked them to stop.
That's right, I literally told kids to get off my lawn. I'm only 34, this is too early for this shit.

I think she's only good for a single song. Like, whatever song you first hear of hers is probably going to be the only one of hers you'll like because literally every other song of hers sounds the same. "Come out and play" was that song for me. Really liked it and then went to listen to more of her stuff and just didn't care much for any of it. It's all virtually the same fuckin song; just whisper singing over a quiet beat.
But she sounds different from other pop stars and people seem to really connect with her lyrics, so I guess that's why she's insanely popular. I just can't get past the sameness of all of her music.

Her brother is a songwriter, and writes songs for her, he's also a record producer. Her mother is an actress, and probably has the right connections.

What kind of coward starts a thread beseeching people to explain something to him and then only acknowledges the existence of the replies that make the thread his little safe space echo chamber? Could it be the same kind who anonymously trolls the internet calling an 18 year-old girl "the bitch"?

Bad Guy is a damn catchy, danceable song that doesn't really sound like other pop music, at least to me. After a few weeks of hearing, and enjoying, her next song All The Good Girls Go To Hell on local radio I finally connected that it was the same artist as the song Bad Guy. So late in 2019 was when I looked her up and started noticing she was being talked about all over. In neither of the videos for the aforementioned songs is she using sex as a selling point. And it turns she was already interesting a few years back as her song Ocean Eyes is better than anything Taylor Swift has done.

She's just the latest manufactured pop star, sure she has a different look and style to most poptards but once the machine decides to push someone they are everywhere and as to how and why they pick a certain artist that's an Art on itself (finding out what will sell the most at a particular time)
And has one catchy song (Bad guy) but overall her music is bland and boring.

Heard of her, don't know any of her music. Couldn't pick her out of a lineup.
