Genius bonus for those who remember the Indiana Jones comics that Marvel did in the eighties. TEXT: "I don't really want to give them what they want to see, I want to give them something they didn't anticipate. They are used to a degree of disappointment when you revisit. Certainly, the Marvel movies have made a spectacular example of a success of worked the other way around, they killed it! Well, we're not going to make another Indiana Jones unless we are in a position to kill it. We want it to be the best. We've got some scheduling issues and a few script things to do but we are determined to get it right before we get it made." movieweb.com/indiana-jones-5-update-harrison-ford-marvel-comparison/

Scheduling issues? Does he have another CGI dog movie to finish first?

Scheduling issues? Does he have another CGI dog movie to finish first? The fifth film is supposed to come out next year. If they don't start filming between now and next January, I don't see it happening. It'd be cool to get a Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones in the same year though.

I'm with Ford, I don't want another Indy unless it's great. It's impossible to recapture the magic so they should just quit. Those Jurassic World movies are absolutely terrible.

I still have those Indiana Jones comics done by Marvel in the 1980's, although now I have them in the book (digest) form. I sold all of my comic collection years ago but it was one of my favorites from back then. I never got into the later Dark Horse series though.
I hope that the film is better than Crystal Skulls although I'm not one of the majority that thinks it was a completely horrible film. There were some good things about it. I also am of the opinion that rather than a reboot of the iconic Indiana Jones, any new films should be prequels that pick up where the Young Indiana Jones TV show left off. There are a lot interesting stories that could be told about his life working with Prof. Ravenwood in Nepal and at the University of Chicago; including his early rivalry with Belloq.

I genuinely liked KOTCS (and the JW movies ). But for me, the biggest problem was that it spent so much time setting up the adventure, and being sheepish about it being about aliens for that matter, it could only really happen in the last half of the movie. Something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind only Jones is racing against the Soviets to find their landing sight first, that could been more interesting.

Unless it's going to be another Temple Of Doom(which was my favorite) then there's really no point.

I don't think audiences are anticipating seeing a guy who is pushing 80 battling arthritis and dementia.

A couple of the 80s Marvel stories were pretty good--I remember one with Toht's sister and a Samuel Jackson lookalike who had Ismali assassins as bodyguards. I watched Alan Quatermain and the City of Gold the other day and the plot is similar to the first Indiana Jones comic where people were dipped into gold to make statues.

Yeah, I remember issues 1 and 2. Those dealt with those gold statues that could be reanimated. Pretty creepy when I was a kid.
