Too bad Storm (Shipp) doesn't appear on "The New Mutants" as previously planned. That's a huge loss. So far, we got: X-Men --- Storm is an X-Man and she's featured on many important sequences. X2 --- Storm's role is much more prominent and she's actually the REAL field leader, since Cyke has been imprisoned. The Last Stand --- Storm is the new leader of the X-Men. DOFP --- Storm is featured on few scenes, but it's great to see her again. Apocalypse --- Storm is one of the Horsemen. This is a sort of "origin movie" for her. Dark Phoenix --- Storm is one of the X-Men, again. The deleted scene of "X-Men Origins" is not canon. The scene in "First Class" is canon. She is 3 years old in 1962. Dude, the Singer X-films gave priority to whoever had star power at the time. Halle Berry’s stocks had risen between X1-X3, that’s why she was given more screen time and leadership. She won an academy award in 2002. Had it been James Marsden who won an academy award, he would have been given a greater role.
The X-films shamelessly did this. The storyline of their saga was determined largely by the fluctuating popularity of the actors at the time and this continued throughout Singer’s involvement. Why was Storm so hopelessly underdeveloped in X-1? It was very disappointing. It should have been called The Wolverine and the X-Men (I realise that Hugh Jackman wasn’t established then but that was the exception to the X-films’ star power rule). Wolverine was put front and centre because he’s the most popular character. If Bryan Singer has directed the original Star Wars Trilogy, he would have made Boba Fett take the Lando role in ROTJ he was so much of a slave to audience demand. And he left the X-films once the Superman chance came along and then he came back to ruin what Matthew Vaughn had brought back to life when his own career was floundering.
I like the X-films though.

Well, we had a great and well-rounded Storm in X2 and X3, and she kicked ass in X1 too. I'm glad "Dark Phoenix" depicted a powerful Storm that delivered the best. "Apocalypse" is a different kind of origin story, even.

She hardly had any screen-time and no character development at all. The actress even complained about it. You really have a low bar for these characters and films. But don't worry Mr. big mature adult man, us kids will go watch Rocket Racoon, since that's how you imagine anyone that criticizes your beloved films.

And they did a brilliant job with it. 3- No silly jokes for 2h and 30 minutes like the childish MCU products, that's for sure.

Halle Berry did a terrific job in X2. I loved Ororo's chemistry with Jean.

Halle Berry did a terrific job in X2. I loved Ororo's chemistry with Jean. Other than a couple of scenes with Nightcrawler about her anger towards humans, I don't even remember her character in X2. The role was pretty minimal. Definitely not what I would call a terrific job, which is why she demanded more screen-time in The Last Stand. We all know how that turned out. Other than the occasional power display, Storm has been largely wasted and under-developed in these films, like most of the characters not part of the A-Team (Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine, Mystique). Halle Berry has admitted to this as well as Alexandra Shipp. Not sure what films you're watching.

Halle Berry did a terrific job in X2. I loved Ororo's chemistry with Jean. Yeah this really needed to be said in a near 6 month log dead thread, jesus dude stop necroing your own posts where there is little to not conversation because no one cares about them. But as you brought it up she did a terrific job with what she had, but that wasn't much sadly, she really didn't have chemistry good or bad with Famke's Jean either, which isn't bad thing, just kind of means it delivered the standard you would expect from actors of their calibre, neither better or worse. Power Ranger put it quite well the movies under Singer suffered under his chasing the popularity of his cast, rather than writing the best story that fit the characters possible he wrote stories to force in the popular actors, though sadly this may have been a good thing monetarily wise, story wise though it was annoying, especially when it forced Jennifer Lawrence into a prominent role in the movies despite her clearly not giving a shit and it not really making sense at all that Mystique would be that important a character. It's annoying that Marsden left X3 because if not then we could have done away with the Logan Jean nonsense and maybe had more time between Logan and Storm as Cyclops could have rightly been the one to end Jean, paying off that actual relationship, having Scott leave the team after whilst Storm and Logan maybe form a relationship like in some comics, which makes more sense than Logan being in love having to kill Jean and that guilt consuming him years later even though he had spent all of a week maybe 2 around Jean in his entire life, but he's around Storm for years and nothing? Bullshit I say.

Indeed.
Halle Berry's Storm is iconic.

Hopefully with the X-Men reboot Storm will be given a much larger role. I also want to see them explore just how much of a beast she can be with her powers.
I'm talking about summoning Tornado's and other destructive forces.
Imagine if she would have been able to participate in the Wakanda fight in Infinity War, she would wreck their shit.

My main gripe with Storm in all of the previous movies was that she didn't feel mature and commanding enough.
That's something I'd really like to see in future installments.
I like Halle Berry as an actress, but she was just wrong for Storm.
