Eh, that formula of her helping out brokenhearted/oppressed/depressed people has already worn thin for me. Way to turn a funny premise into ponderous drama.

Eh, that formula of her helping out brokenhearted/oppressed/depressed people has already worn thin for me.Β Way to turn a funny premise into ponderous drama.Β I agree. And when does she find time to do her supposedly demanding job if she's always helping everybody with their problems? And why does she think everybody wants her budding into their personal business? Even strangers !!! Like I said, there's a lot I can complain about with this program. But I think you're taking it too seriously. It's just a silly musical comedy. None of that takes away from the fact that the music is great. The dancing is fun. The dialogue is smart. And the lead actress is gorgeous and a great actress.

Episode 7 3/22/20 I don't know where they're going to take this show, but . . . . . . If Zoey really liked Max she would have said yes by now. He should have moved on a long time ago because there are plenty of fish in the sea, especially in San Francisco.
And why does Zoey always have a look of fear everytime anybody starts singing? You'd think she'd be used to it by now. Anyway I still laugh when anybody sings. And Jane Levy is gorgeous.

I just saw the first 2 episodes. It's fun and has interesting characters, despite the concept that isn't really new (this is made more obvious by having people sing I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY, just like last year's ISN'T IT ROMANTIC?). I think there should be transitions between fantasy and reality. Otherwise, I end up with lots of questions. During the musical numbers, do people I.R.L. see the title character in silence making a confused face? Does she stand still, even if she walks/runs/dances inside her head? Does she imagine the songs in real time? If so, when she "comes back" and asks "Where was I?", why does the other person act like no time has passed at all? Well, maybe these questions will be answered in future episodes. When Zoey sees her father singing (despite his disease), it's very touching, but it's not the kind of thing you do in the very 1st episode. At least not with a main cast member, because we know he'll continue appear. In fact, in the 2nd episode, he sings again. Neither Zoey nor the audience feel surprised nor moved.

I think the musical numbers in her head take place in milliseconds. Nobody else sees her do anything. As I said before, there is a lot to criticize about this show. And that may be fun and interesting. (I've done it repeatedly throughout this thread.) But at the end of the day, it's just a silly musical comedy. I don't take it too seriously. I think it's fun and funny.

I'm on E3. Why are the employees singing JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR when a man they idolize arrives? I know the idea is that people sing songs that reflects their thoughts, but aren't the lyrics supposed to be taken literally? Aren't there songs about admiration? the concept that isn't really new (this is made more obvious by having people sing I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY, just like last year's ISN'T IT ROMANTIC?). I forgot to mention TRUE BLOOD. Both have a scene in their pilots where the protagonist reads her friend's mind and finds out he has feelings for her.

I'm on E5. Zoey asks her brother and sister-in-law if they're OK and then they sing a sad song. I thought the purpose of her powers was to reveal hidden thoughts. These 2 were arguing right before singing... and Zoey saw that, hence why she asked.
Are they going to do that "The title of the show interrupts Zoey when she's about to curse" joke in every single episode? It was funny the first time, but no joke in the world can survive that much repetition.
The best musical number in the series so far is FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT by The Beastie Boys. he choreography is creative and fun and it allows for some funny moments.

I'm on E7. Leif sings about liking Joan right before making his move on her. Again, Zoey's powers are supposed to reveal hidden feelings. . . . If Zoey really liked Max she would have said yes by now.
He should have moved on a long time ago because there are plenty of fish in the sea, especially in San Francisco.
And why does Zoey always have a look of fear everytime anybody starts singing? You'd think she'd be used to it by now. 1) I think that, if she didn't like him, she would've said it at the end, instead of the whole "I don't want to risk our friendship" speech. 2) He tried. I know it was Zoey who gave him a push to got out with Autumn, but he didn't have to. He did it because he wanted to. 3) I don't think it's fear. It seems like she's weirded out. You're right about her getting used to this by now (the characters revealed that it's been months since the events of the pilot, so the timeline is longer than the airdates).

I don't think she likes him romantically or sexually though. She was ready to "throw down" with that black guy. And she would have, if he wasn't already engaged. And she hadn't counciled his fiancee. In TV land, they may end up together. But in real life, he should move on. 2) Girls and ladies rarely tell the straight truth when dealing with guys or potential mates. Whether they know it or not. In my opinion, whatever she thinks, she's not really interested. 3) Thanks for agreeing. I believe I'm only on episode 6. I'll be surprised if anything in this past Sunday's episode will change my mind. Edit; No, after checking, I've seen episode 7.

I'm loving it. The music is great. The dancing is fun. The dialogue is smart. The lead actress is gorgeous and a great actress. Is there anything I can critizice about it? You bet. BUT IT'S FUN !!! have you seen Crazy Ex Gf? It seems like a rip off on that except younger/hotter people and slightly less smart concept/songs, BUT that being said I do enjoy it. But doesnt it bug you how hot the main characters are especially considering they are supposed to be coders and she is supposed to be this kinda nervous/awkward wreck? thats the only few things bug me. but i still enjoy watching it and really like the two main actresses.

I'm on E8 and something similar has happened: Zoey singing I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS just because she saw 2 colleagues kissing. This is reaching for straws now.

And he, seeing himself as their god. Very funny execution.
