Tales From The Darkside: The Movie Tales From The Crypt: The Movie now. May as well make it a short story anthology movies weekend. Sticking with the theme, I've dug out Dr Terror's House of Horrors to watch later tonight. If I fancy more after that, it'll be Dead of Night.

Has some high points, like Vincent Price completely camping it up big time đ But overall, a dud đ Worth a free watch for a few bits, but I wouldn't pay to watch it.

Guys.....I finally resigned from my current job because it had become so stressful that I was not able to watch movies and enjoy my life lately. I was leading a team of 13 and it was something I was not enjoying even though my performance was highly appreciated and awarded by the company. People's management is not my stuff. Still, even after resignation I am in my current job serving in my notice period and will continue to work till 10th march. The job had made my life completely insipid. I hope I can soon start watching movies again and enjoy my life as before. Next job I will search will hopefully be something which won't involve much interaction with others. I think I have not seen a single film this year. Ideal job would be a movie reviewer! Well done on taking what must have been a difficult decision!

Yeah, man. I was being greedy and foolish in becoming a sort of victim to the corporate world. Money should be secondary. Quality of work should be the primary thing which I realized truly now. I have been always frustrated, irritated and annoyed lately. So it was coming to something. Finally, I made my decision and said goodbye (but will still work till 10th march). I just want a comfortable life now. Good for you man, it's a great feeling to unburden yourself like that. I spent well over a decade working at a big firm, in the M&A, private (and some public) securities and banking departments. I worked countless hours and was constantly running deals for everyone else's clients (i.e., the senior partners had me run point for their clients). It was interesting work, but was just endless and made it impossible for me to build my own book of business. I had to cancel several vacations over the years, was always canceling on friends, missing gatherings, working nights and weekends round the clock, I closed a deal while on my honeymoon. The final straws happened back-to-back, where one of the head partners made me come in on a Saturday the day after I had knee surgery to run one of his stupid deals for a friend of his, and right after that I missed my sister's wedding because of some bullshit on an international deal where the timeline arbitrarily changed and they basically told me to finish the deal or I was getting fired. I opted to finish the deal and I've never forgiven myself. I immediately left after that. At the time, I had several opportunities but narrowed it down to 2 - I was offered a gig with Jones Day, one of the biggest firms in the world, and they wanted someone flexible enough to head to London every month to run a private equity firm's M&A division and be the "face" of the firm for that client. The other was running the M&A department for a smaller firm here on Long Island. I took the latter and while the former would have resulted in substantial pay, I could have kissed my life, my friends, my dog, my exercise routines, my enjoyment of life, goodbye. Now, sure I'm busy but I have underlings, I have my nights and weekends, I'm able to generate substantial deal flow, and I'm making more money than I ever did at my prior firm. Outside of the 4th quarter, I rarely work on weekends, other than the odd email or call now and then. I have so many friends who feel like they have no choice, that even if they are unhappy, they should be "grateful" that they even have a job, even if it destroys their lives so they can enrich the higher-ups. I'm glad for you that you've made a decision to improve your life and you're 100% right, when money is the sole motivation, it quickly erodes everything else that matters. Thank you so much klawrencio79 for sharing your past experiences. It's quite comforting to know that other people have faced and overcame challenges of hectic job. Yeah, lately I have been very distant from most of my friends. The friends who are not in my city rang me a few times in last one year or so and because of I being busy with work I forgot to call them back. Slowly and steadily I have seen people from past getting out of my life because of how much I lack time for anything other than job. Hopefully, I can get it balanced soon.

I watched a great documentary last night â Tora-San of Goto. It was made over 22 years and it follows a family of nine (parents and seven children) who owns a small factory of Udon noodles in a small island off Nagasaki in Japan. At the beginning the older child is in high school and the youngest is a toddler. They all wake up very early in the morning to put in some hours of work at the family business making noodles before heading off to school. Then over the years the children grow up, some decide to leave the island, some stay, they get married, have children of their own, and so it goes. Almost two hours long but it flies by. Very touching, I recommend it.

There is a new TV show that premiered last week called âClariceâ, about the adventures of Clarice Starling, FBI agent - a name that everyone will probably remember from âThe Silence of the Lambsâ and sequels. I recorded the first episode but I havenât watched it yet, because I wanted to re-watch the movie first - which I did last night.
It had been many years since I had last watched it, but I still remembered it pretty well. Such a great movie, and fantastic interpretations by Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster.

âBlissâ on Amazon Prime.
A big steaming elephant shit of a film.
Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek are shoo-ins for Razzies this year.

How did this thread get buried on page 6? AnyhooâŠ
Not sure who mentioned The Expanse in the action hero draft, but I just got into this show a couple of weeks ago and I love it. Finished season 2 last night and I'm glad I was late to the party, so I still have three seasons to go. This show is incredible. It's a gritty, more realistic Star Trek. Morality plays in space with commentary on ethics, social issues and geopolitics. So many great characters and interweaving plotlines.
I can't rave enough about the show, I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates great longform sci-fi storytelling.

Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well: One of my favorite characters along with Amos, Bobby and Avasarala. I really dislikes the latter two at the very beginning, but they became my favorites, what says a lot about the writing imho.

I drafted the Martian female marine. Canât remember the name of the actress right now. I think itâs the best current sci-fi TV show. I still havenât watched season 5 but I am planning on starting it soon.

'The Rental'
2 couples go away for the weekend - I'm assuming the person who rents it to them is off their rocker and attempts to kill them
Enjoyable so far.
Horror fans - I just watched Creep and Creep 2 - I don't know how I missed these movies - felt they were fantastic. Guy posts Craigslists ads to meet strangers and he's off his rocker. Found these tense and enjoyable where you're rooting for the protagonist to survive the movie.
