I thought of Breakdown too, which I think is a lot better, but you're right that it's reminiscent in tone and the sort of no frills approach. There's not really a B or C plot to speak of, they just throw you into a scenario and go full tilt on that. But unlike Breakdown it doesn't really start subtly and escalate, it goes hard early. I found that scene in the diner pretty shocking. But also absurd, like you said. The cops literally won't and/or can't stop this guy (even when they shoot him twice), and he's just some guy. He's not John Wick or the Punisher he's obese Russell Crowe. But it was nice to see Russell Crowe clearly having a blast in this role. He could have phoned it in and considered this movie beneath him, but he's giving it his all and plays into the tone. It's super dumb, but I actually had a good time. By the way, I also watched In & Of Itself. That's a surprisingly powerful experience. Stunningly emotional. I have no idea how some of that shit was pulled off, and some of the most impressive stuff is the stuff that's not the amazing display of card handling dexterity, but just in the ultra personal emotional stuff. There's obviously some fuckery going, there are magic tricks being done after all, but I believe that the people's reactions are entirely genuine. Also... wild how many famous faces were in the audience at those shows. A worthy addition to the very impressive filmography of Frank Oz. According to the IMDB trivia page (which is NEVER wrong), Crowe wore a fat suit for Unhinged as he was uncomfortable "gaining that much weight again." I'm guessing that's a reference to The Insider. I dunno, that was the most believable fat suit I've ever seen. I think he's been wearing that fat suit for like 3 years now to get acclimated to wearing it for the shoot.

Picked up a new DVD to watch after this evening's football. "THEY WILL FIND YOU"... Then what? Take you out for a nice meal? Compliment you on your dress sense? Only one way to find out.

I watched A Mighty Team (2016) last night on Netflix. French movie with Gérard Depardieu about a top footballer going through a rough patch who goes back to his small home town and ends up coaching the local youth team. Several reviews on Letterboxd call it “a French Mighty Ducks” but not having seen Mighty Ducks I can’t comment on the similarities or lack thereof.
It is by no means a great movie and I can’t in good conscience recommend it to anyone but I don’t regret watching it. It has its moments.

I've now watched this. I suggest you don't. It's complete garbage from start to finish. A real stinker. I've actually fallen for this once before
Was a blind buy for $4.99.
Check out the cover - it states 'One of the greatest monster movies ever made' and 'On a par with Jaws'
One of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life and 1 of 3 I've ever thrown into the dumpster because the stench was stinking up my epic collection -

I don't know, maybe your first clue that it was being overhyped on the cover should've been that you'd never heard of it?

I don't know, maybe your first clue that it was being overhyped on the cover should've been that you'd never heard of it? I read rave reviews about it on the old IMDB horror board
And I looked it up and it has a tremendous score from numerous sites - IMDB 7.1, Rotten Tomatoes 93%, IndieWire 4.5/5
I used to live around the corner from a place called 'Movies U Buy' that sold DVDs for $4.99 - was like a DVD super store so I used to go in there and load up on movies - have a zillion in storage - so after reading about this and seeing on the rack I thought I was in for a treat - especially since it referenced JAWs on the cover. Was brutal. Painstaking. Can't even remember if it was dubbed or subtitled (I'm sure there's 2 versions) - it's Japanese - what a stinkbomb

It references Blair Witch on the cover so it has to be good, no? The two directors of The Blair Witch Project went on to make a number movies after their breakout hit, but never worked together again, and as far as I can tell they've each only, at best, made middling films since. I kinda liked Edwardo Sanchez's Lovely Molly, and you might like his movie Exists since you are a hard-core Bigfoot believer. Daniel Myrick made a movie called Believers that I thought had a good premise but ultimately was kinda weak. Neither of them wanted to work in horror, really, but they're follow up comedy project fell apart and they kinda broke up after that and each could only make cheap horror movies ever since.

This is what I don't get
The film is highly regarded
As were the other 2 films I ditched - Napolean Dynamite and . . . Mulholland Drive
I can't sit through subtitles or poor dubbing
I've seen Train to Busan free on my cable package and have tried a couple of times. Has very high scores and people rave about it and I love zombie movies
But I just can't do subtitles. Too much work. I love reading, but if I want to read I'll pick up a book.
No work involved at all with Bio-Dome

The characters are horrible. Going by this film, I can only assume that they just got lucky with BWP.

No argument with your last line. It may feel arduous to watch Bio-Dome, and may be challenging to sit through, but it's not a challenging movie and doesn't require work. The rest I can't help you with. I'll never understand how people are bothered by subtitles. Though I suppose if you're in the general practice of not really paying attention to the things you watch then it wouldn't really work.

To each their own, but to me dubbing is always more distracting than subtitles. You probably get used to both after a while, but dubbing looks silly and makes me wonder what the actor's real voice sounds like, and if the inflection in their voice was a better interpretation of that line.

Black Klansman - haven't finished it yet but I've enjoyed it so far.
Recommended.
