Gettin' in Summer 4th of July Mode with a John Candy Summer Double Feature Summer Rental The Great Outdoors Happy 4th - after this I want summer to fly by. College Football, Pro Football, MLB Playoffs, NHL/NBA starting back up, college hoops starting back up, temps in 50 - hoodie/jeans weather - with Halloween right around the corner Great double feature. I'm not as willing to see summer fly by, but it will anyway.

Not gonna make time for Jaws, Uncle Sam, Killed on the 4th of July, or Aquanoids? By the way, watched a different summery slasherish movie this morning, called Aquaslash that is free with Showtime. It's maybe the only horror movie I'm aware of that's set at a water park. It's pretty lame, nothing happens for a while, and the acting is terrible; but it does eventually pay off with a crazy, absurd, ultra-bloody and gory set piece towards the end that doesn't look half bad. And it's really short and none of the plot matters so it's a perfect choice for you to have on in the background and not really pay attention to until you get to the good stuff.

Had a thought at the fireworks this year. Are there any zombie movies where a zombie outbreak begins at a fireworks display? Wouldn't that be an awesome setting for a zombie outbreak? Thought I'd ask you guys because if anyone would know, it would be my sports board horror homies. (It got me thinking Halloween would also be a great setting for a zombie outbreak. It's almost too obvious, but it's brilliant.)

I get JAWS going every 4th of July -
But I've never heard of Uncle Sam, Killed on the 4th of July or Aquanoids - going to have to look them up (and see if they're free on my package)

I feel like there has to be a zombie movie taking place on Halloween….right?

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile - Zac Efron plays Ted Bundy. Pretty good serial killer movie that avoids the gruesome approach in favour of a focus on the infamous psychopath's relationships and legal problems as his "career" starts to unravel.
If you are looking for gore or for a comprehensive biopic of Ted Bundy, this is not the movie for it. If you are already quite familiar with the case (which I wasn't), I am not sure how much new information you will learn - but it's a well-done movie, so if the subject matter is of interest, I think it's worth a watch. It's on Netflix.

I got a free month of Paramount Plus.
Just started Your Honor. Brian Cranston is a Nawlins judge who tries to protect his son when the son kills the son of a local mafioso in a hit and run.
Not bad so far.
Hope it’s all wrapped up and there’s no s2, unless s2 features a whole new case.
May watch the new Star Trek too.

I've never seen that one. But it's kinda interesting that with a new Christmas Story sequel on the way, that that movie will now have 3 sequels, none of which have anything to to do with one another. It's got a more confusing timeline than the Halloween series.

It would indeed be a cool setting for a horror setpiece. Zombie, slasher, or otherwise. There's a lot of potential for visual and sonic flare. And come to think of, I don't think I've seen a Halloween-set zombie movie. The closest thing I can think of off the top of my head is undead zombie-ish kids in that one segment of Trick r Treat, but that's hardly the kind of thing you're taking about. It's bizarre that there isn't a prominent example of that.

Large crowds gathered together outdoors; attention focused on the sky as explosions drown out the snarling chaos of a zombie outbreak; nobody would know what was going on until it was too late. The visual and audio palate you could bring into play here is cinematic gold. And again, zombies on Halloween! Perhaps the most social holiday, where you're accustomed to opening your door for strangers dressed as freakish creatures! It's so obvious, the possibilities are endless. I can't believe it's never been done.

Watched a bit of s1e1 of Yellowjackets on Paramount+.
Seems OK so far. It appears to be a distaff Lord of the Flies.

I remember thinking when "Your Honor" premiered that it was a promising premise., but I never had a chance to watch it.
I have been actually looking forward to each new episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, in stark contrast with Discovery, which feels like a chore that I have to do because of some weird, misguided sense of brand loyalty.
