Cornholing on ESPN. So this is what gay men do on Saturday night? I don't get it??? All you do is try to throw a bean bag through a hole in a hunk of plywood.

Close my Eyes (1990) - rewatch of this Poliakoff film. Itโs not very highly rated on IMDb, bit I always enjoy watching it. Good man. It's hilarious that when WFH started I thought hey I got what I wanted. I will finish everything in 4 hrs and life will be a pleasure then! And here I am still working at 2:31 AM and I have been working for the last 14 hours staring at computer and utilizing my brain and it seems I will still be working for the next 2 hours because I am far away from meeting my target. Anyway, I have not been able to see a movie nor even the two you suggested last Friday. Hoping I can resume normal life from Friday night and get watch Body Double.

That's modern day slavery! Hope you aren't disappointed when you do get around to Body Double. What's the feeling over there about the clash with the Chinese on the border? Sounded brutal!

I am feeling really exhausted but hoping the next week won't be so tough. To be honest I don't work this much for 80% of work days but some weeks like this are tough. China has finally acknowledged that they lost soldiers. US Intelligence claims 35 Chinese troops were killed, India claims China lost 43 but China doesn't give a number. Yeah, it is part of Chinese territorial aggression. The bad thing for us is that Pakistan and Bangladesh Islamist can join forces with China in the future. We lost 20 soldiers in spite of being severely outnumbered. Hope the thing de-escalates. India is definitely not prepared to face economic devastation of a war and knowing Islamic countries on both sides definitely not.

Anyway, like most people in the West, I'm definitely rooting for Team India! And, of course, a peaceful solution.

Louis Malle's "Damage" (1992) with Jeremy Ions, Juliet Binoche and Miranda Richardson.
Enjoyed this re-watch of an intense love affair between damaged young woman Binoche and Jeremy Irons, who is cuckolding his own son.
Has a similar feel to Close My Eyes which I watched earlier in the day. Terrific performances by the three leads.

I watched "The General" (1926), with Buster Keaton. This may very well have been the first feature length Buster Keaton movie that I saw. I didn't find it hilarious but I had some good laughs - and of course it's amazing to watch the old trains and the incredible stunts. It was worth watching it for that alone, even if I hadn't chuckled a single time.
With everything that is going on these days I feel tempted to start a thread about this movie in the Politics board to discuss the fact that the Confederates are the good guys in it, but that's probably not a good idea...

So last night after the Mrs. went to bed, I opted to throw on the Child's Play remake from last year. It was free on amazon and figured I'd throw it on for 10 minutes to see how bad it really was. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this one! It's not great by any stretch of the imagination. Hell, I'm not even sure it was good, but where other remakes like Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street and others have failed so miserably, this one embraced its ridiculousness and ran with it.
Aubrey Plaza and Gabriel Bateman (who plays Andy) are both pretty good in this. Their relationship is believable and honestly, it carries the entire story. Even though things get a little silly, overall the movie is pretty funny and it makes this a worthwhile watch if you just want to turn your brain off and enjoy a stupid horror movie. Plus, Mark Hamill's voice work is always great.
Sure, I have some gripes (mainly about the one fundamental switch of what is driving the doll as compared to the original), but a movie like this isn't really worthy of gripes. It's stupid, but it's stupid in a good way.

Watching Husbands (1970) - - Ben Gazzara, Peter Falk, John Cassavettes. Released 22 days after I was born. I'm guessing I've had this in my Netflix queue for about a decade and finally pulled the trigger ( Scotland PA has been in my queue since 2009 - - I think that's the longest). For those who love the wedding scene in The Deer Hunter - - man, have I got a scene for you! For some reason, this got rerated - - it's PG-13.

Storm of the Century
Stephen King's story which was made into a 2 part mini series in the late 90s
Was well done.
Do you make a deal with the Devil and give up 1 child's life to save a handful of children? What if that 1 child is yours? Choose not to bargain with the Devil at all? What if all children are lost as a result?
Ending is terrific. Highly recommend it for any King fans.

"Timecop" (1994), with Jean-Claude Van Damme. Waste of time even for this big fan of time travel stories.

I liked the opening scene, the one set during the Civil War. And Mia Sara was hot! Enjoyed Ron Silver chewing the scenery too!

The Wind - 2018
Free - On Demand (Comcast Cable)
Western Horror - late 19th Century
2 couples living near each other trying to survive living off the land - bit of 'The Witch' feel thus far - slow burn.
The one chick seems to be interested in the other chicks husband - lets see if she pursues him folks and lets see if he caves leading to some tension and drama after cheating on his wife
Love horror movies set during 'The Crucible', 'An American Haunting', 'The Witch', 'From Dusk Til Dawn III' time periods - i.e. over a century ago.

I just finished 36 Quai des Orfรจvres (2004). It stars Gรฉrard Depardieu & Daniel Auteuil. I think I really enjoyed this film Given that you know French I assume you must be watching more French movies than people of English speaking countries?
