How are you all doing? Have you stocked up?
As a single person, I don't need all that much. I do need to find another 6 pound bag of my cat's dry food. Just made sure I have enough coffee and Fancy Feast, but until they are actually sent/delivered, I'm still not sure if I will get them. And there's always package theft in this area.
No idea why people are stockpiling water. I need distilled water for medical purposes, and panicked a bit trying to find some. Bought 2 gallons off a neighbor for $5.
I'd prefer not to have to deal with the stores for a while, with the long lines and and empty shelves. May go to the farmers market, though.

I'm pretty much OK. I said on another board that a little senility worked in my favor, as I often had to think about how much of a product ... mostly canned goods, pasta, dried beans ... I had. So, I would buy some "just in case." When I took stock, I realized that I'm in good shape. (As for non-food, I've tended to pick up toilet paper, when CVS had sales on the Scott brand that I like. So, I'm set there.) I went to Safeway early yesterday morning, thinking I'd avoid crowds. Wrong. Everybody thought the same thing. One item that I did stock up on, is Safeway's Mixed-Berry flavored seltzer water. I already had 3 12-packs, and I bought 3 more. I have some meat, and shrimp, in the freezer, along with portioned out servings of my Bolognese sauce, and some hamburger patties that I made last weekend. For milk, cheese, and the like, I'll go to my local corner stores, and independent produce stores. I have plenty of wine.

I do have a sodastream, however.

I went to Walmart and Shoprite Friday and stocked up on food. However, neither had bleach, hand soap of any sort or toilet paper (that one still boggles my mind,I buy in bulk when needed which I did a few weeks ago). We have a more pressing problem, though no heat since last Wednesday night. The idiots who run this apt complex finally got on the ball when I was able to reach the city enforcement code folks this am ( they shut down Friday noon until this morning). As of 1:49 pm the office finally answered the phone and said heat ( and the hot water that went off a few hours ago) would be back on 'within an hour'.Well,we shall see.....

My big worry is the cat food and cat insulin situation, I ordered an extra bottle of insulin from the vet and will pick it up on Wednesday , I bought some extra bags of cat food on Saturday but my Chewy order has been delayed, everything is out of stock. We have plenty of food for ourselves but I need food for my wicked kitties and the ferals. I hope the stores are able to restock soon, I'm sure there are warehouses full of cat & dog food but if they shut down, we won't be able to get the stuff.

I just checked my order with Chewy because they already took the money out of my account this morning but everything I ordered now shows temporarily out of stock, they should not take the money out of your checking account if they cannot fill your order. That means I have less money to spend if I find cat food at a store.

I do have enough cheese, though I'm not a feta fan wickedkittiesmom. Cheddars, goudas, and blues for me. As a single person in a large house with a 2-car garage, I always have between 12 and 40 or so rolls of toilet paper, which I buy whenever Costco has their coupon. So I guess I always hoard it, lol. I may share some locally if people are in desperate need. I'm hoping stores will open early for over-60 shoppers as they are doing elsewhere. Only have about a quart of bleach.

The largest supermarket here is opening this week from 7am to 8am with an age limit, must be over 70. I hope it isn't to ship people into cattle trucks. My wish is that shelf stacking will be done at night and being a spry 72 year old, I will make mincemeat of the wheeled walker mob as we rush the hand sanitiser aisle. Actually I have given up on seeing any of that again so I am making my own. I only want a few staple supplies like pasta and canned tomatoes. There must be a shitload of Italians around here for those aisles to be stripped.

I'm trying moisturizing cream, but it's a childhood PTSD trigger.

Use a good bar soap, if you don't share the bar with another person, it should do the job. Remember there used to be a time when there was no hand sanitizer or liquid soap. If you are truly worried, you could use a little rubbing alcohol, just don't use it all the time. My big worry is cat food. I've ordered some big bags of dry food from Chewy this morning and they assured me they will be delivered in 8 days, they can't make promises about the canned food.

I'm a seltzer & cheese person also. Water stockpiling I get, as water can be useful for many things. TP apparently people think because their stuck for longer periods, they'll use more than usual. I think 16 cases will last those people quite sometime. Unless they decided to get beans as their canned food. As a bakery owner, my ingredients truck is now delayed for 5 business days. But considering all my weddings & larger party orders for 3 weeks have now been cancelled, I don't need as much....

I am told isopropyl alcohol and aloe vera is better.
