All is well with me and my family. How about you?
We are staying at home in rainy California. Lol
I have been cooking more. My freezer is full and I have a ham in the fridge.
My pantry has a few low spots but mostly stocked.
How is your 'larder?'
Things have quieted and I am not nearly as stressed as I was last week
How about you?
Hugs

All well here in glorious AC,NJ. We finally got heat back on last night after 8 days without. Now it's so hot we have several windows open while it's 48 outside. As for the larder we're ok for a couple weeks at least, although it may get boring if we don't get some variety.I was watching the governor on Facebook live a little while ago saying pretty much everything except essentials must shut down by 9 tonight. The funny part was a few folks I don't know were freaking out because liquor stores weren't deemed essential.I chimed in that my local walmart has a liquor store and I got some 'likes' from the freaking out strangers.I had to chuckle to myself.

So far, so good, Enigma. Our mayor put us into a shelter-in-place mode, which went into effect on Tuesday at midnight. So we, and 5 other bay area counties, were 3 days into it when Newsom ordered it for the rest of the state. I'm pretty well stocked. I'm only one person, so a little goes a long way. And, WKM made a post about having ham, which reminded me that I have 2 canned hams ... so, that was a little bonus. I also have a large bag of split peas, so I'm good for soup. There's plenty of tuna, sardines, pasta, beans, sections of London Broil (which I cut from the main slab), and chicken. I have a small grocery store across the street, which is very well stocked. So, I'm doing well. I know you don't drink wine, but I think I have your share here. My street is a fairly main artery, and it has been very quiet since Tuesday. A group of neighbors talk from the back doors/windows. And, a large group is keeping in text and e-mail "touch." And, of course, there is a lovely group of international friends through IMDb. This is a global situation, and it's so nice to be able to stay together, from all over the world. Happy to hear that all is well with you, and your family.

I belong to a "wine club," at one of the Napa wineries. The tasting rooms are all closed, and they're offering great savings, for club members, for their most popular wines that are offered at tastings. I just ordered some at an almost 50% savings. BTW, Nic, if you're still in touch with The Count, please pass along my HELLO to him. Stay well.

Or web or however it flows .lol My brother in Contra Costa started isolating a little before I did. He waited in line for trader Joe's but left after a time. The line didn't move! Great that you have a well stocked store so close I toast you my friend ! Stay well!!

I haven't spoken to the count in some time, and the last time, several months ago, when I called him he seemed quite agitated saying in effect, everything sucks, life is beeped up,sorry, and hung up.I called him again a week or so later and just got voicemail. Now I'm afraid to even call for fear of bad news.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. His contributions to this board were so upbeat, and set some standards ... "What's for Sunday Supper," lives TODAY. He was so creative with topics. I remember one Halloween when he organized a "costume party," where we all had to come up with a temporary screen-name as our "disguise," and we would all try to guess each other's "disguise," and real identity.
For a while, he responded to my emails, but it's been well over a year ... maybe 2 ... since I've heard from him.
Thanks for the reply.

So glad you have food and heat! How'd you do it? I couldn't. nico sez: Well, basically using the gas oven dialed up to max in the small kitchen and a large fan to blow the heat out of the kitchen into the rest of the apt, always careful to shut the oven and fan off before beddy bye...don't want to die of gas... it has gotten us through because the temps haven't been that low,I went from my normal sleep in skivvies only to a t shirt and pj bottoms under a nice comforter ( thanks Bed,Bath and Beyond for all those 20% off coupons they kept sending us that seems to have put them out of business,at least around here). The Mrs,as usual, wears heavy duty flannel pjs.Heat has always bothered me more than cold.At least the hot water was always on,so before showering we'd let the shower run full hot and close the bathroom door until it was like a steamroom.Heat, hot water and gas are guaranteed as part of our lease,so we refused to use the oil filled radiator type space heater they gave us( we also own one of the same) even though the lease specifically prohibits such things. They seem to have forgotten that they gave it to us,so as punishment for being real dicks about the whole thing if they haven't retrieved it in a week or so I'll try to sell it.I priced 'em online and the cheapest was $55 at Walmart,up to a buck elsewhere,or I'll give it to someone in need. On the food front I forgot to mention in the 'larder' thread that yesterday I made a big pot of chicken soup using the remains of a rotisserie chicken we got at Wmart for $4.50,carrots,onions,celery and a half a box of mini shells sitting in the pantry.BTW,when they finally brought in an A team of heating /plumbing guys Thurs the main guy had to come in several times to bleed the radiators, and he gave me his cell number to let him know how it was going. We seem to have hit it off and become buddies of a sort, speaking on the phone for nearly an hour this morning telling tales of youthful indiscretions, jail stories from old weed busts a million years ago, blah blah and laughter. I started self isolating 9 days ago. Harder than I thought. But I shouldn't complain. My larder is full and the supply chain seems to be fixing itself. Thanks for the liquor antidote. Gave me a good laugh! Keep safe!

hope mtbg is doing well too! I hope so, too. And, if he's up to it, it might be a good time to open the virtual bar.
