steven is not really known as a screen writer is he? He was! Until he got sued by Eleanor Parker's son. He was credited as screenwriter on Poltergeist but got a lawsuit because the story was extremely similar to one sent to him--the clown and tree scenes were in there. Some shenanigans with Frank Marshall (aka Mr Kathleen Kennedy) and hiding the source of the story treatment.
There was going to be a court case--with Richard Matheson as expert witness on ghost stories for the defense and Ray Bradbury as witness for the prosecution but they settled out of court. After that Spielberg didn't list himself as story credit and he had to keep people away from him in case they said something about a story and then later he got sued (which happened a few times--Twister etc). Lucas also had people dragging him into court about ewoks etc.
I think Jurassic Park relies too much on John Williams music which has a really saccharine quality. I prefer his Lost World score.
