And both stores have tape on the floor to have customers be separated six feet at checkout counter. My local Kroger does the same with bright red tape, but they're only 3 feet apart. And the pharmacy, bakery, and deli all have tables in front of the registers on which they place the card readers to keep customers at least 3 feet back from the cashier when they pay.

If you're paying with a credit or debit card, no signature is required anyway unless it's over $100. And even then, they have one device for the payment, one for the signature.

And both stores have tape on the floor to have customers be separated six feet at checkout counter. My brother, who lost his job at a restaurant because of the lockdown, is about to start working at a grocery store. He said they have tape on the floor. He said they also meticulously clean the store every night.

Since I've been volunteering to help shop and deliver groceries and other things I've been to numerous stores this last week. Seems each store has their own thing. I've seen the barriers, tape, some stores only allowing so many people in, store that have employees making sure people are keeping their distance. Some stores spray and wipe after each transaction others claim the do it every hour, people wiping off carts etc..
Then there's the stores that don't seem to be doing much of anything. Even with all this it's enter at your own risk. Since most of people I'm dealing with is seniors I take my own wipes with me and wear disposable gloves. I also try to wipe down everything I can before it gets taken to the person's house. It's a whole new world out there.

Wal-Mart stores now only have each isle go in one direction to keep the distance between customers.

Walmart, Walgreens, USPS, and Publix all have six feet of distancing when standing in line.
Walmart recently started having customers go around a barrier of shopping carts protected by yellow tape when entering the store. Though, when leaving, people still huddle by the exit.

I watched a video on facebook from Walmart Canada (because I follow them). They have done the same things as previous posters have mentioned, namely the red tape on the floor and the plexiglass at the checkout. Plus, they are constantly sanitizing the checkout area.
Most are now not accepting physical cash as payment. One must do debit or credit. My father found this when he went shopping on Tuesday. Knowing he doesn't have a debit card, I asked him how he paid. He does have a credit card. Fair enough.
Speaking of cashless:
I went and got dinner at A&W last Tuesday. Of course, they are doing only drive-thru, which is fine.
I paid via debit, and didn't realize I could just tap my card on the terminal to signify payment. I always pay cash for fast food. So, I inserted the card in the terminal, and put in my PIN.
I explained to the cashier that I should have just tapped my card. I joked that I probably made more work for him because he now has to sanitize the terminal (because my fingers were on the keypad). Of course, I apologized for that. He chuckled, and said it was cool.
