scheduled my first ASL lesson for this Friday. Excited to start. ASL? Always seriously lying? If there's one thing you have the vast experience to teach others about, lying is definitely that thing.

American Sign Language. Always wanted to learn it, figured now is the time. Stuck at home with no job... oh sorry Nora. Good luck with everything Thank you but I am ok for now. I am lucky I know, I can survive a few months without a job. Hoping it will be over by the summer and I will be able to continue with my work as planned. in the meantime I will continue learning and self improving and try and figure out how to generate income doing what I do even from home, if possible. I mean we are all dealing with the same thing. I remain optimistic.

On a positive note, every single day now feels merely 5 hours long. With 19 hours either of sleep, pre-sleep, &/or post-sleep.
I've also officially time travelled ahead 24hrs because it's now been 3 days in a row feeling that way. Today is soo Sunday in my head & body.
July has become such a mental goalpost, that this entire ordeal feels like one giant day. Crazy.

had my first ASL (american sign language) lesson tomorrow. it was fun. but its hard.
i hired a tutor who is deaf herself, from birth, and it was an interesting experience to have a lesson with no sounds, other than the occasional clicking of the keyboard when i needed to ask something.
learned a lot about the deaf/hard of hearing culture and we practices spelling words and then she taught me a few basic sentences and words like how are you what is your name where one lives etc.
Its going to be a challenging journey, its been a long time since i learned a new language but I am enjoying it so far.
I know 3 deaf people and cant wait to be able to talk to them in their native language...
so this makes me happy these days. next lesson after the weekend.

Stark improvements in air quality for major urban centres can't hurt during health crisis.

Working Canadians received $2000 for last month's E.I., flat rate, & another $2000 for April-May 4weeks. Financial anxiety cured.

Listening to music and watching movies. We're also watching a lot of Youtube videos. I'm starting to get restless and bored because I can't read most books anymore or sew because of my poor eyesight. I'm only 55 years old. My 82 year old mother can see better than I can. It's rather depressing if you dwell on it, so I try not to think about it. I also have two sweet cats in my house, so I have a routine at least.

I find this very cool! I considered trying to learn Arabic because there's such a high percentage of people who speak it here, including many of my patients.

I find this very cool! I considered trying to learn Arabic because there's such a high percentage of people who speak it here, including many of my patients. It was harder than I expected, especially the understanding part. I now can spell whatever I need in sign language but being able to spell it, even fairly fast, doesnt mean I can read it at the same speed when someone else does it. I think I read at half speed than I sign. But reading words and sentences is actually easier for me than reading individual letters, probably because a lot of the motion somehow makes sense to me, like it is similar to what I would sign as a layperson if I wanted to communicated via “pantomime”. Like I wanted to sign “wait a moment please, Ill go switch the light on” and I just gave it a try pantomiming what I imagined “wait” “me” “go” “light” and it was actually quite similar to what the teacher then taught me. but of course there is a lot of small details and intricacies. like i wanted to sign “i believe you” and signed “i marry you” because of a wrong starting position of one hand . Another session tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Btw - I too wanted to give Arabic chance. Its a popular language and I have several Arab friends so it would be great to be able to speak to them in their mother tongue one day. But my cousin has masters degree in Arabic and she shared with me throughout her studies how challenging it was. But they were learning to write and read too. Maybe speaking only would be easier.
