What are some meals you've prepared to ration your food; so you don't have to keep going out for groceries?

Fortunately, I'm pretty well versed in using exactly everything that needs to be eaten, and avoiding any waste. The downside is any tips and tricks on saving money on food are useless - because I'm already doing them.
Depending on what you like to stock at home, soup is a pretty good thing where you can add whatever needs to be added - and just throw in some generic broth to stretch it out. I think I have a large container of soup which is probably stretching on week 2 by now.
I like to keep hamburger buns on hand, as just about anything can be made into a good sandwich. Currently making lots of egg, lunchmeat and cheese sandwiches. I cook the egg on an iron skillet, with a mason jar lid keeping the egg in shape so it fits on the bun. So it ends up being the bottom part of the bun with a couple pieces of smoked turkey, then the egg. Then take the top bun and put the cheese on it, microwave it for a few seconds to get the cheese started to melt, put it altogether and heat it up in the oven for 10 minutes. It's not a full dinner, but it's a fun and cheap waste of time - and if it comes out tasting delicious, it feels like all the work was worth it.

Don't got turkey, but got some prepackaged Walmart ham. Might try that out.

^^This. I also add frozen peas. Or you could do frozen spinach or chopped kale if you're fancy.

For lunches, I like to make tuna and mayonnaise for several days and refrigerate. You can out herbs and salad leaves with it, or traditional favourites like sweetcorn. Tinned fish in general is great, put it on toast, in noodles, eat it straight, you name it, you can do it.
Everybody panic-bought pasta, and though I adore pasta, I find it's slow release often leaves me feeling hungry (and tempted to polish off the stock). I love Chinese noodles but again, can eat them till the cows come home (though my current overweight is only about 10 pounds as I try to exercise once a day).
For means, you might like to look into stews, particularly the Polish national stove dish Bigos which could feed the 5000 for several days, or authentic Hungarian Ghoulash, that kind of thing. I like Indian curries and they go a long way if you refrigerate; turmeric, garlic, ginger, coriander, all those elements we're hoping will thin the blood, pump the senses and build the immune system to off-set bad living. And you can decide how much curry to take by what you choose to go with it.

In a roaster like you see below I made a giant batch of cabbage rolls and stuffed peppers and froze a bunch of it. And in a big pot made this and froze several containers of it.

I got a big bunch of asparagus spears for $1 at my grocery. So probably some of those baked with a little egg and some panko crumbs.
Something awesome I leaned about, is homemade croutons. Seriously the ones I made last week were so good I ate them all before I got a chance to make a salad! If you have bread and there are the end pieces, or any pieces not good enough to do something else with... homemade croutons are easy and delicious. Just break up the bread in chunks, put them in a skillet or a baking dish, cover with a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and I added just a little bit of shredded cheese. Then bake them until they are slightly crispy. Not too crispy, because they will harden up once they cool down anyway. Don't want it to be burnt bread. Really, those go great in a salad. And the shredded cheese addition might be a good last resort for a bag of shredded cheese which isn't good for much else.

moonchild LOL No. But my love of cooking started early. We I was 11 years old me and my dad would catch trout and clean them and cook them. Fresh trout is great. Then when I turned 12 he took me hunting. We would get and cook up rabbit, grouse, ring-neck and deer. I would watch and learn watching my mom and dad cook them. Have liked to cook ever since. BTW all these years later I still hunt and fish.

Don't know if you'd have the ingredients on hand, but I'll be making tostadas tonight. My toppings of choice: refried beans, ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning, shredded cheese, and red enchilada sauce. I already had tortillas, beans, seasoning and enchilada sauce on hand, and I picked up some meat and cheese today at the store.

Mashed potatoes with chunks of pickled red beetsNever heard of that but it sounds good. it is wonderful. you can also throw in a bit of cheese if you fancy. but the beets itself is pretty good. make sure you have enough of it, dont use it as a garnish but as an integral part of the mashed potatoes.
