Why waste time and energy respecting something that isn't worthy? As for tolerance, we have no choice really I suppose, because what else can we do. That doesn't mean we have to be accepting of it though. In order to live side by side we need tolerance. It isn't religion alone. If you disagree with someone about something do you "unfriend" them and look for a hive mind were everyone is in agreement? If you are meat eater do you unfriend someone because they're vegetarian and it is too much of a waste of time and effort to tolerate them? We passively tolerate people every day, and passively respect their views and decisions. In most cases it takes no effort at all! |

The Wiccan Rede, "An it harm none, do what ye will," has the same idea, but that isn't so simple either. There continues to be terrible confusion what "harm" is. Too many people think there is nothing seriously wrong with the United States at the moment despite its debt being out of touch with reality. Too many people who think there is something wrong also think Trump will be able to fix it. |
