I can't believe they deleted it a day early, those lying assholes!
Can we curse here? Or is it going to be a morass of censored *beep* words and people adding spaces in between like on imdb lol?

All gone now. Ended around 12:27AM GMT (a bit after or before). I was there until the bitter end.

Apparently they are based in the UK and so it is already the 20th their time. I did not realize that. I stopped posting there about a week ago though because I felt it was pointless if it was all about to end anyway. And why exactly do people not in the UK have to pay because its the 20th there already? They really should have included in their message exactly what time zone they were going by.

"Whose was it?" "His who is gone." "Who shall have it?" "He who will come." ... "What shall we give for it?" "All that is ours." "Why should we give it?" "For the sake of the trust."
For some reason, this was the first thing that came to mind after hearing and seeing this news. Ah! I have deleted my account, having saved the most important posts. I was only on the site for a short time, but I met some very good people and had a good many questions answered--and had numerous laughs about the ol' "Singer in Sleuth" mystery! It really is too bad, but with hope we will have a good time here.
Shanith, shanith, shanith.
(I suppose I'm in the poetical mood at the moment.)
P.S. Bragging privileges to the first person who, without the help of Google (or any source on the Internet--no splitting hairs!), knows the source of quotations (the "Whose was it?" ones, that is) above!

I left the Little House On The Prairie message board a little bit after 6:00 PM central time. I then went to the Gone With The Wind page on IMDB because I was going to read the Gone With The Wind message board. At the bottom of the page, I noticed that the thing you click on to go to the message boards was gone. I shut off my computer and logged back on because I thought that the page may have just needed refreshing. I tried again and the Gone With The Wind Message Board still would not show up. At that point, I realized that they deleted the message boards.

I knew that everything would be over in a matter of minutes because I got the announcement glitch several times before... it was all over.
Col Needham is an idiot! Screw you!

OK so it ended at 7:00 pm now I know. I've already log out of my old account and will likely never use it all that much now if ever.

Someone over at IMDb was calling him Colonel Needham.

Well now it's time to make all the IMDb alternatives to grow a lot.
In fact, I still think the idea of merging them all would be very good.

I installed BlockSite (a Google Chrome extension) and set it up to redirect me from IMDb to this site. Don't want to add to that traffic you know...
Watching the boards disappear was an experience I won't forget. Traumatizing in a way.

Too bad they couldn't wait until tomorrow to get rid of the message boards. IMDB said that they were going to get rid of the message boards on February 20th. They should have at least waited until after midnight to get rid of the message boards. I was going to look at a few of the message boards again tonight for the last time. Too bad they deleted them a day earlier. It is not fair that they deleted the message boards a day earlier than they said they were. Apparently they are based in the UK and so it is already the 20th their time. I did not realize that. I stopped posting there about a week ago though because I felt it was pointless if it was all about to end anyway. I didn't know that IMDB is based in the United Kingdom. I thought that they were based in California. I live in Texas. The time zone that was listed in IMDB message board posts was two hours behind my time zone. For example, a post from 2:00 AM central time would show up as being from 12:00 AM pacific time. I wish that they would have been specific about what time they were going to close the message boards.

I knew it was over when I checked my email and saw get satisfaction light up. So even in the end they jerked their customers around. That is pitiful.

So now there isn't even a way to view your friends list? Like for instance if I wanted to see what one of my friends rated something. Is that gone? I would like to know this as well. I completely forgot to save my friends list. Is there any way to recover that? Damn you, IMDb...

Yes. I was waiting until it was closer to the end to say some goodbyes and then they slammed the door in our faces early. Silly me. I thought that it would end at midnight in Hollywood.

tried to read something but it was already shut down, but I read where they said they were working on something to get the members back to discussing shows and communicating with each other, maybe in the spring or summer, I don't think they would let go of such a popular site such as what they had, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see, I'm just wondering if the people that singed on other sites would go back there,

I, for sure, will never return to IMDB. I say this because if they do try to implement some new feature that allows for the film community to interact, how will I be certain they won't just close it down and do this shit all over again?
Honestly, I can't see much use for IMDB anymore when you can find any film information you are looking for quicker and easier with google, or wikipedia. Amazon and IMDB are IDIOTS!

I just feel very sad.
I know it was only a silly old internet board, and we can all move on here, there or elsewhere, but I spent years there.
It may even have been my first ever board. I think it was.
I'm going to raise one last glass to old times. *sniff*
...and then, in the morning...we begin anew. In my end is my beginning.

Also, www.moviechat.org/ is in the process of recreating the message boards of IMDB - they were archiving every board they could before the cutoff and migrating those boards and posts over there. Note: I am not trying to advertise that site here or anything...I am simply informing people that because the boards were archived, you will be able to find discussions you had on IMDB at MovieChat.

Also, if they ever get any edition of the message boards back, I'm sure they will demand real names and addresses -- you know, so someone can sue you if you say a movies sucks? No thanks, I won't be back unless we can be totally anonymous. As it was, I never gave them either credit cards or mobile phone numbers. I used those internet phone number sites that give out a general numbers to sign up for an account.
