As my wife has been using white vinegar in almost all her surface cleaning for the past several years and seeing as the recent pandemic is interfering with securing the few gallons a month she goes through, I've decided this is a good moment to try it.
Just curious if anyone has any experience with it.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with it. No but I would like to know how it goes! Keep us posted. My husband uses vinegar for cleaning like your wife, in the garden, and laundry. I would love to make my own

Bleach is better if you are cleaning to avoid Covid-19, I don't think vinegar will help against that.

I have a 1 gallon vinegar barrel, and have made red-wine vinegar in it. A couple of years ago, it developed an "off" taste, and I emptied it. It's a fairly lengthy process that begins with a "mother"/"starter," which you can order online. In my neighborhood, there is a brewing store, which deals mostly with beers, but carries products for wine-makers, and such.
You have to decide whether you want to make RED or WHITE, vinegar. Then the "mother"/"starter," is combined with a bottle of wine, of the appropriate color. I think that takes about a week, and it has to "breath," through a loose cork, or a cloth-covered opening. After that, any left over wine (not "JUG"), can be added to the mix. Variety doesn't matter ... only color. In fact, a blend of wines gives a special, individual flavor.
I don't know if there's a faster, or less expensive way of making it for cleaning purposes. I kind of doubt it.
Most markets carry large bottles of white vinegar for much less (time/money) than it would take to make it. And, it is a "wonder product," in many ways.
