I loved Chutes and Ladders, and Candy Land. Also, believe it or not, Monopoly. Parchesee.

Yeah, Risk is a great one especially if you have a few players. Later I started playing more complex games from Avalon Hill and SPI (Simulations Publications Inc). At one time I had around 80 games. I sold most of them, but kept ten favorites. This is one I still have.
Caesar: Epic Battle of Alesia 51BC. Vercingetorix and a Gallic army are trapped inside the town of Alesia. A larger Gallic army is on the way to help. Caesar has ten legions and is outnumbered by four to one. The Romans build a 'tactical donut' around the town to prevent relief and escape. The goal is for Vercingetorix to move off the board or for Caesar to stop him.

Monopoly, and any board game that had one of those "Pop-o-matic" domes in the center of the board which rolled the dice when you pressed on the top.

Risk...particularly special mission Risk tho, cuz the games would go faster.
Life...me and my cousins and siblings used to love playing it.
Battleship and Guess Who...
I played all the other classics but those were the 4 I most enjoyed as a younger person.
Into my adulthood I befriended some people that played more advanced or quirkier games like Shadows over Camelot or Betrayal at the House on the Hill...these I find generally much more fun.

Monopoly & Scrabble with family.
Sorry, Battleship, Clue, & Game of Life with friends. Stratego had a big summer for us one year.
I'd play any/all of those today no prob. I know there are board game clubs &/or 'bars', I still find they're more for groups & clubs. I'd love to just walk into a place & play with strangers, who cares.

I had one of those 'pop-o-matic' dome games too, but I've forgotten the game itself. I also played Monopoly. I would love to be able to play a game of Monopoly with other people right now.

Monopoly, Cluedo, Snakes and Ladders, the game, whatever it was, with the plastic bubble that you press to shake the dice. I played Risk a few times too.

The Cat family also played a lot of card games when Catman was a kitten.

I love crossword puzzles, so Scrabble is probably my favorite. I've done a couple of "Clue" type of board games, as I like whodunits, too.
When I was very little, I remember a board game that featured "Uncle Wiggily," who was a rabbit, and the lead character in a series of children's books. I can't recall many details, but I think it was a race among players to get through the forest.

With my parents it was Risk, Clue and Monopoly. With my friends, it was the late 80's and early 90's RPG games that had a feel of Dungeon & Dragons but on a board: Hero Quest (I didn't have the expansions, despite seeing the promos, somehow they were harder to find in my area at that time, even cards and comic book shops were not so common.) Dark World (again, base game only): Battle Masters (which has the largest playmat I saw for a "board" game and a working catapult and canon that shot solid plastic balls with enough force to go across the playmat!) Apart from those games I was always a fan of Stratego too:
