how i think the remainder of 2020 films in the U.S.

The prodigal son returns.

Mulan is already scheduled for end of July.

It's highly likely that all 2020 releases are going to be delayed until 2021.

...which would defeat the entire purpose of rolling out theatrical releases.

Marketing costs for a film would remain the same even if restrictions permitted only 50% theater occupancy.

Producers/investors do not like that. At all.

I'm guessing that with films costing over $100 million, the studios would rather bite the bullet and release it for streaming (at $20 or $30 a rental) than roll out a film to theaters which are mandated to be half-empty -- or even 75% empty.

The alternative is to wait until any occupancy restrictions are completely lifted (2021 or even 2022).
