I think it's a very cool, interesting and elegant hobby of Mr. Nabokov's. What a fascinating man. "Lolita" is one of my favorite novels. To think that English was something like Nabokov's third language is stunning. Interesting observation on your part. You are probably right.

I have a couple of books that feature Nabokov's drawings of lepidoptera. Fascinating. A true renaissance type, as his lengthy and erudite correspondence with Edmund Wilson demonstrated (and Wilson was certainly a renaissance type himself).
