I could’ve sworn I remembered hearing that an R-rating was already a done deal.

I keep forgetting that the first one wasn't rated R.

I keep forgetting that the first one wasn't rated R. Back in the day, I kept stressing on the old IMDb board how stupid I thought it was that WB insisted on a PG-13 rating for the movie. Ignoring the general premise and title of the movie, David Ayer is a guy who pretty much exclusively does R-rated films. Giving him a PG-13 tentpole movie struck me as a counterproductive idea.

If it is rated R for a reason then cool, if it isn't and is just done to be edgy or some shit, like BOP rather than an actual need either for story or actual material purposes then meh.
Hopefully it's because Gunn realised that the movie is good in PG-13 but great at an R rating, and not you know shit this doesn't work we need more titties, blood and swearing to cover this shit up a little.
