If you dont mind sharing, does that mean that your lifestyle pretty much has not changed? "Yes its pretty much the same." Same here. All the things I like to do has not been banned. Hiking, boating, biking, fishing, cooking on my grills, etc. Like I said the only real change for me is not going out to eat once in awhile. that does sound sweet. not so much of an option for me in Brooklyn though. But if I lived in Montana or Maine, I would be ALL OVER nature these days… Well, maybe one day.

I do not know. Less on gas for sure. Lol I haven't gone to a restaurant or fast food for 6 (?) weeks. I bought more food and toiletries. Climate control is on 24/7. Time will tell. Right? but did you really buy That much more food etc, than what you would naturally eat in 6 or so weeks? yeah maybe one or two weeks surplus but not like a 6 month extra, no? So I think it should still show overall as a saving..

Ours went down. His job is a lot of driving, so gas. Since we're both home, no driving except to go to grocery stores, so that's down. Not buying meals out for lunch or dinner, or our weekend restaurant/bar things. No movies. No discretionary spending since we're stuck at home. I'm thinking natural gas for house, electric and water will be a bit higher, but no significantly so. The $2,400 will offset some of these costs. He's good through May to stay at home without pay, then it will get a tiny bit tighter, but no significantly so. His sports have also been cancelled, so there's that impact as well. For some reason, we have more money in the bank. But wuarterly taxes are due May 1, so that's $4,000+ dollars shot to hell right there. Still, we are good.

A little down. 95% less on gas, a bit less on food because I stocked up, but I did buy a couple books, re-usable mask, & a month of Netflix because The Last Dance. My spending will go down again in the coming weeks because I'm set now. Warm weather around the corner, I'll be outside a lot more... I'm getting bored of being online.

Substantially!
I mean, now that I have been working from home for the past month, I have probably saved $250.00 for the month in fuel. It used to be that I would fill up twice a week at an average of $40.00 a fill up. Over a 4 week span, it amounts to about $320.00/month. However, since the price of fuel has significantly increased, I'm thinking if I had still had my commute, my fuel expense would be less than the $320.00/month.
And, I have used my car significantly less, so I have saved maintenance on it. Had I still had my commute, I'm thinking I would have run into my next maintenance, which is a complete overhaul, which could cost me about $1500.00.
EDIT : Got an email from my car insurance company - offering assistance to those who are working from home. As such, my car isn't being used as much. They are offering to cut back on the insurance - provided I'm only using my car for essentials, like groceries, prescriptions and the like. I'm seriously going to look into this.
I haven't been grocery shopping in quite some time. My father would go to the grocery store on Tuesdays because it is seniors' day then. He gets 10% off everything in store.
About the only frivolous thing that I have purchased was a Blu-Ray player. During a thunderstorm, there was a power surge. As such, it conked out my DVD player. If I'm gonna ride out the storm (so to say), I should be able to watch DVDs.
Plus, it was my birthday on Sunday. That was my birthday present to myself.
Finally, the last option mention 'afraid to look at my bank account'. This made me chuckle....a bit.
When word of the Coronavirus officially became a pandemic, the markets took a deep nose dive. At one point, I was afraid to look at my RRSPs. They have rebounded - slightly.

Substantially. Except the AC has been coming on a lot more often (Gulf Coast Texas). Our Spring usually lasts a few weeks. Then it's Summer again. But yeah, we aren't buying much and I'm driving maybe a few miles a week just to do the little amount of grocery shopping we've had to do. We tried to do curbside at the grocery store but you have to plan out a few days in advance and that never happens.
