www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Rebelscumcom_Presents_The_2020_Gentle_Giant_Ltd_QA_186744.aspCW: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit theaters last December and it looks like there are just three pieces up for Pre-Order at this time…those being the Sith Trooper Mini Bust, the Kylo Ren Dreamer Premier Collection Statue and the Kylo Ren Legends in 3-Dimensions Bust. I would imagine there are some very requested characters, especially in the ever popular Mini Bust line, that fans would love to see. Names like Emperor Palpatine, Poe Dameron, Zorii Bliss, Babu Frik, Lando Calrissian, C-3PO and more. Can you speak on when we might see more characters from the final chapter in the 9-film Star Wars Saga? CT: As I mentioned before, we are working on some, but I have to ask..are you SURE there is lots of demand for these “very” requested characters? The overall demand for busts and SW products is not what it was 10 or even 5 years ago. It's not just a GG issue either. The brand is VERY strong with The Mandalorian & The Clone Wars and more new content to come, but you all know what the production runs on collector products were in the past compared to now. We would very much love to make more products from the new movie. It’s not like we’re sitting behind our desk wringing our hands thinking how can we stick it to fans and not make busts they want that will make us money…right?? We just, as of yet, have not seen enough fans that would want to buy a bust have that personal affection for some of those new characters that makes sense to justify going to production, but for sure we’re watching it and perhaps as more time passes, fans affection for those characters will grow.

I don't know why your calling me out.
I never said there was demand for Episode 9 toys.
I will say that there is definitely demand though for all sorts of merchandise for "THE MANDALORIAN" (like those Baby Yoda toys for an example). DISNEY is going to make a fortune off of that.

You and CRAPcrusader both love episode 9 and defend that movie more than anyone else "cuz it made a billion therefore it's great and everybody loved it." You should both know the toy sales tell a very different story.

Uh No....I never said everybody loved it.
I said that anybody who says and/or thinks that the Movie was a bomb at the Movie Theaters when it actually grossed over a billion dollars is a Self-Entitled Shill of The Fandom Menace.

We just, as of yet, have not seen enough fans that would want to buy a bust have that personal affection for some of those new characters that makes sense to justify going to production, but for sure we’re watching it and perhaps as more time passes, fans affection for those characters will grow. The toy/collectible sales for the sequel trilogy have been in steady decline since the beginning, (that being The Force Awakens). But it really shouldn’t be so surprising. TFA drew in such a large following. Disney converts, general moviegoers, and OT fans giddy over the OT nostalgia in the film. The small minority criticizing it for being such a on-the-nose copy of ANH were ignored or rebuked. Most professional critics give this issue a pass though. At that point the only concern seemed to be that little girls weren’t buying quite as many Rey action figures as they’d hoped. Fast forward to TLJ. OT fans are split down the middle as many of them feel betrayed by how characters and storylines are handled. Especially where Luke Skywalker is concerned (among other things). The backlash is palpable. But many critics enthusiastically approve of the trade off. The trade off being that they’d gladly see the Skywalker character be recreated into some MacGuffin to subvert expectations and champion one of Rey’s character values... that she doesn’t come from anything special, that she is a nobody who can achieve greatness by her own doing without the guidance or help from anyone else. Many of these same critics - along with pro-Disney social media and ardent fans of TLJ/Rian Johnson - paint a public picture of disapproving fans being a loud but insignificant minority of misogynistic basement dwellers. But toy sales tell a different story. The drop off in sales suggest that there is a bigger, more diverse number of fans who didn’t enjoy various things about TLJ. Fast forward to TROS. Some fans now critical of the trilogy are not enthusiastic about seeing the movie. Another problem is that avid TLJ fans are angered by certain themes being reversed, especially ones involving Rey. Reylos are disillusioned by where they thought Reylo was headed based on TLJ, but didn’t. But the biggest problem of all is that the majority of professional critics also penalize TROS for reversing some of the moral themes surrounding Rey that were created in TLJ. For the first time, it’s not just fans betrayed by TLJ or the Fandom Menace telling sequel trilogy fans that they shouldn’t be enthusiastic about what they see onscreen. It’s also the critics who have always been on their side. So it’s no wonder that many of them have lost confidence in buying collectibles of the new trilogy characters.

The "toys aren't selling" trope has been around since the prequels. And yet all movies but one spinoff (i.e. Solo) has made a profit.

Don't forget about "THE MANDALORIAN" TV Series!
That has also been making a heck of a profit as well.

I said that anybody who says and/or thinks that the Movie was a bomb at the Movie Theaters when it actually grossed over a billion dollars is a Self-Entitled Shill of The Fandom Menace.
Or they did simple maths based on previous evidence, according to Deadline with production, marketing and participation ie bonuses and percentages of the theatrical gross then TROS cost a total of $490m, and earned $519m at the box office, so it did make a tiny bit of profit, about 6% of their investment, but the thing is anyone who said until now it likely lost money were right based on previous films, TROS supposedly spent $40-45m less than the prior Saga films in marketing, if they had spent the same amount as the previous films which were either $180m or $185m I forget which then TROS would have been a bomb and lost $11-16m at the box office, also means at $1b TROS was still unprofitable at the theatres.
See this is why they tagged you, your an apologist lapdog with little sense at times, your statement is moronic, even though what you want to try and say is correct, TROS was a theatrical profitable movie, but it had to cut over 20% of it's marketing budget and almost gross $1.1b to do so.
Overall TROS earned Disney $300m so far though but that's largely due to $230+m in worldwide TV sales, but also this number may not include residual fee's owed to people as of yet, but this is the thing I doubt anyone was thinking Disney wouldn't see profit off of TROS, I know I wasn't, but they went from banking hundreds of millions just from the box office to not even getting 10% of a return from the same box office in a handful of years, this along with the decline in the toy sales shows how poorly the movies were handled, whilst how well The Mandalorian was handled with minimal executive interference shows how well good SW can flourish on the screen and in the world.

Toy sales are down because there really weren't any new characters added that demanded to be added to a Star Wars toy collection. It seemed the toy they were pushing the hardest was the new droid and nobody wants that thing. Force Awakens had BB-8, which felt new and fresh and was a cool character people liked immediately. Last Jedi had the porgs, which were funny and unique. D-Lo isn't as cool as BB-8 or as unique as the Porgs. It's just another small droid, except this time it talks in a human voice.
