I would add A Very Private Gentleman by Martin Booth. Made into the movie The American starring George Clooney.
The book is a wonderful read and a lively depiction of a small Italian town.

I've read My Brilliant Friend, Enchanted April and A Farwell to Arms. I'll have to read some of the others on that list. Thanks.

Reading Douglas Preston's The Monster of Florence made me highly anxious about ever visiting. Might be accused of being a serial killer with Satanist tendencies.

I've read shitloads of undemanding historical fiction set in ancient Rome, but even then, names aren't coming to me. I Claudius?
I haven't read any of the books in the list, although I have read one or possibly two collections of Andrea Camilleri's Inspector Montalbano stories.

A Room with a View was the first one to pop up in my mind. Good to see it on the list.

A Room with a View was the first one to pop up in my mind. Good to see it on the list. I saw the film A Room with a Few but I never read the book. I'll have to look for it on the Thrift Books website.
