Why don't major Hollywood releases have poster art like this anymore? Because hundreds of Twitter trolls would call it offensive, that's why.

I always thought it was odd they used Chevy Chase’s name in the tag line instead of Clark’s.

I always thought it was odd they used Chevy Chase’s name in the tag line instead of Clark’s. Chevy Chase was a bankable name, that's why.

They repeated the same art for European Vacation.

They repeated the same art for European Vacation. That movie sucked, unfortunately.

Why don't major Hollywood releases have poster art like this anymore? . Because they sadly could not give a rats ass anymore. I mean, take a look at some of these updated "masterpieces" of art they thought where "ok" to go with the Blu-ray releases: But, it is not nearly as bad the Blu-ray cover of the entire Police Academy movies. Now that one has to be one of the most cheapish and horrible movie covers, ever made. I mean, they went from this: to that:

That movie sucked, unfortunately. No way. It was a damn fine sequel, maybe not as funny or great as the first or third one, but surely one of the better made comedy sequels ever. No, Vegas Vacation (1997), now that is more fitting within the whole "sucking" business. So many great scenes, but my favorite one has to be the whole german "relatives part. "Who the hell were they?"

Is that poster a reference to something? I feel like I've seen a similar design before, but I'm not sure where.

I think the two Vacation and Conan posters are from the same artist if I'm not mistaken.

The first Revenge of the Nerds (1984) film, also had a similar vibe going on, maybe also done by the same artist? And once more, the very "best" thing they could come up with when it was getting a special "panty raid" edition back in 2006 or 07, was this:
