Bad pitch by Eck. It was in the only spot where Gibson could keep a compact swing and golf it out. He needed to keep Gibson reaching across the plate.

And Gibson needed to hit it out. He could have hit a ball into the Monuments in old Yankee Stadium and been thrown out at first by 10 steps.

I'm partial to Kirby Puckett's Game 6 HR in the '91 World Series. He made an awesome catch earlier in that game, as well.

You do know Gibson was given a shot (of plutonium?) before he stepped up to the plate? That "home run" is the premier example of better sports through better chemistry.

one of my first sports memories, I was too young to remember the Mets 86 run so 88-89 where the first world series i actually remember watching
