Yes autumn. Just take it out and let it thaw at room temperature. Works great. I went shopping today. Put a loaf right in the freezer. I was hesitant like you. Bat and catman convinced me to try it. I'm glad I did! Thanks bat and catman But what about what BAT said about thawing it at room temperature while still in the bag making it soggy? Paper towel in the bag. Most bread shouldn't get soggy though.

I believe he is in a humid climate. Could that be the difference? Not sure which your climate favors.

enigma72 autumn Soggy on defrosting depends largely on how much moisture is in the bread to start with. White Wonder Bread is going to be soggier than a more solid whole wheat or a rye.

For thawing, Catman just puts a couple frozen slices or a hamburger bun in a sandwich bag, seals it, and puts the bag in the unused (broken) microwave so Katsura won't rip open the bag.

Back when I was a kid my mother would buy bread products ie sliced bread buns fruit pies donuts at the day old bread store. Basically everything was more than half price off. We would just put it all on the chest freezer and use as needed. Everything seemed as fresh as if you bought it at the regular store. as for thawing it out we just went down (the chest freezer was in the basement) and got what we needed out of the freezer set it on the kitchen counter and wallah it was good to go in a couple hours. We did toast frozen bread though.
