Bonnie Greer, who I always enjoy hearing, said every kid in America knew who Lloyd Bridges was in the 1950s as he was an icon. I was just wondering, what roles made him so popular?
Thanks.

Ah, I did hear her mention this tv show, but hadn't heard of the show before. Didn't realise it was such a big hit in its day.
Thanks.

There's a scene in Hot Shots Part Duh with Lloyd Bridges in a skindiving outfit. Suddenly the theme to Sea Hunt comes on.
He was also in High Noon and A Walk in the Sun.

If I made a gurgling sound with a beverage at the dinner table, my father would say, "Are you doing sound effects for Sea Hunt?"

He gets slapped around by Katy Jurado in HIGH NOON and fights with Gary Cooper too.

He's the mean, "tell it like it is" brother in The Rainmaker (1956)

Sounds like Jacques Cousteau with Louis Malle, or 'The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou'.

"Sea Hunt" never made the Top 20 in viewership for any of the years in which it was broadcast. The reason for this was that it was not a network series that was on at the same time across the country. It was syndicated which means that local stations would have to subscribe to it and could run it at any time local programming was available. Yet, on that basis Sea Hunt was successful as one of the most widely seen syndicated shows of its time (1957-1961).
In 1987 there was an unsuccessful revival with Ron Ely (TV's Tarzan) as Mike Nelson. I couldn't find any info on how many episodes were broadcast, only that it was "short-lived."

I couldn't find any info on how many episodes were broadcast, only that it was "short-lived." says TWO episodes but only one is listed in the episodes section and .. only a title there apparently not as popular as Lloyd's version www.imdb.com/title/tt10005774/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_1
